n6h6··on Canonical’s recruitment process is long and complex
Jesus fucking Christ
n6h6··on Linux surpasses the Mac among Steam gamers
> or whatever you want to call it

I feel for you lmao. Technology naming conventions are a shitshow, and CPU architecture is no exception.

n6h6··on The Coming Enshittification of Public Libraries
Capitalism is a relatively recent invention, so no.

It's disappointing that there are people who think that "far-left ideologues" have anything to do with the decline of public libraries.

n6h6··on “BASIC Computer Games” code in modern languages
that's sad :(
n6h6··on Depthboot – Your Chromebook, your way
I encourage you to look up "obtain" and stop being intentionally ignorant.
n6h6··on When did people stop being drunk all the time?
ah shit, I should have looked up if beer itself is pasteurized. So-and-so Pasteur himself invented the process for beer and ale specifically (albeit around 1870, so before then I would be right)
n6h6··on When did people stop being drunk all the time?
If you didn't know, pasteurization is a specific process of preserving food by heating it to a certain temperature. Not sure if there's a good substitute for that word in the way you're using it though (technically alcohol is distilled, but it's not distilled water like one would normally think of it. it's not really "purified" either. hmm)
n6h6··on Got called to a professor’s office after a complaint his SPARC4 was running slow
I looked it up, and aww :)

Unlike many of the things people talk about on this website that I didn't experience growing up, I actually did download this on Windows Vista once. It might have been a version with malware, but I don't remember.

n6h6··on Putting the “You” in CPU
>The bottom of every page is padded so readers can maintain a consistent eyeline.

Very considerate!

n6h6··on A glitch in the SEO matrix
I tried using DuckDyckGo (lol) for a few weeks recently, but its results are just as bad or worse than Google's are usually. It's the same problem of endless worthless listicle noise.
n6h6··on Teaching Programming in the Age of ChatGPT
Plus, with Wikipedia, you can clearly see the sources or the lack of them. I tried asking ChatGPT for a source twice. One time, it gave a source. Another time, it gave the "as a language model I can't" spiel.
n6h6··on The past is not true
Police aren't known for their investigation skills.
n6h6··on Why can't we stop homelessness? why there's no end in sight
how so?
n6h6··on Why can't we stop homelessness? why there's no end in sight
someone who became homeless because they don't make enough money is likely to come from a family that doesn't make much money.

someone who becomes homeless due to addiction is not likely to be supported by their family because people, in general, hate addicts. even well-off families often can't or won't afford to pay for the help the addict needs, or the addict needs more help than can be afforded, and eventually the family is likely to get sick of it and the addict is again homeless.

you might believe that these aren't the case, and I can't convince you, but the traditional family support network barely exists now and usually doesn't accomplish much when it does exist.

n6h6··on Microsoft faces antitrust scrutiny from the EU over Teams, Office 365
Nothing, but it has to do with Microsoft, which the comment they were replying to talks about in its latter half.
n6h6··on Linux has achieved a 3% desktop market share
There are valid reasons to consider ChromeOS "not real Linux" or "not real Desktop Linux". In my opinion, you are being needlessly reductive (mainly in your final paragraph).
n6h6··on Keep Linux Open and Free–We Can’t Afford Not To
What's up with the way you write the letter s? Is it a catch-all for apostrophes? I haven't seen anyone do that before, just curious.
n6h6··on Windows Update Restored: Fix Windows update on Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, and XP
I thought you were joking, but no, the CUNT is real

n6h6··on File over app
that astro thing, despite saying whatever-it-is is built for speed, is laggy on my phone. kinda funny
n6h6··on Google search's death by a thousand cuts
Yeah, I've seen that. I'd have called it "recipe mode" but I like your name for it better.
n6h6··on Flashing elements alienate users
or, more realistically, allowing only one brand of detergent. oh wait, printers already do that (with ink, not detergent)
n6h6··on Text rendering hates you (2019)
Wow, this answered some questions I've wondered about for a while yet never thought of looking up. Especially the section on subpixel antialiasing; very neat. I didn't know that was an intentional thing, I figured it was just something that happened on its own.
n6h6··on Comparison of different Lemmy Instances
I am also curious. The main reason I haven't even tried figuring Lemmy out is because I figured it'd be exclusively full of "free speech" people, like other Reddit alternatives.
n6h6··on Reddit’s plan to kill third-party apps sparks widespread protests
This is almost certainly intentional. It's been a trend for a while for companies to make their websites as shitty as possible so you're basically forced to use their app.
