You could use Firefox today. Why wait on Chrome?

I feel like I'm missing a lot of context and I'm not willing to click on a (another) random link to get it.

And when you say "due to RPi owner behaviour" what you're saying is "due to the default setup". It's a Raspberry Pi problem. The devices are notorious for this issue for good reason.
mvdtnz··on Gleam Is Now on Tangled
> seems to just be the Gleam language

Ok so that "gleam" is a language (presumably programming language) is some of the missing context.

> on some new version control host

Is that what Tangled is? I guess I'll take your word for it.

mvdtnz··on Is this the end of the once-mighty GoPro?
Sounds like a problem for America. And totally irrelevant to the state of GoPro the company. It sounds like you're advocating for corporate welfare on the basis that a failing company is "based in" USA, even though their most impactful operations are overseas.

Why would you think there are "no tests"?
mvdtnz··on $100 AI Music Video: Claude Fable 5 vs. GPT-5.6 Sol
Absolutely horrendous and devoid of any value whatsoever.
mvdtnz··on The lost joy of music piracy
Most of my friend nowadays (40-42 year old group) either don't listen to music at all or just put on pop radio at work and pay no attention. And almost all of them are weirdly proud of their lack of interest in music and wear it like a bizarre badge of honour. Sucks being the only one left who is interested in music.

Use your words.
mvdtnz··on Your 'app' could have been a webpage (so I fixed it for you)
> When I announced the update, the number of people who asked me variations of "how to get website on phone if website on computer" or requested I make the damn thing an app was outrageous.

This level of technical illiteracy shouldn't be tolerated in the workplace in 2026. We all work on computers all day, there's simply no excuse for being incapable of basic computer operations. Upskill or get out.

mvdtnz··on The Graph That Should Be Front-Page News
Yeah NZ national news has been going on about this for a couple of weeks. They're trying to scare everyone by saying what an extreme El Nino we're in for this summer with such devastating consequences as (let's see here) warm dry summer days.

It's going to be a good summer, I can't wait.

mvdtnz··on Trump says the US controls the Strait of Hormuz and should get paid for it
You're a democracy. You're getting the government you ask for.
mvdtnz··on Since Chromium 148, Math.tanh is now fingerprintable to link underlying OS
> If the "abuse" in scraping is the number of requests... limit the number of requests?

Step one in doing this is identifying which requests are coming from the same agent. Guess what fingerprinting helps with.

mvdtnz··on Irish datacenters now guzzle 23% of the country's electricity
A thread in which yet another American learns how ludicrously cheap the cost of living is in USA despite the constant neverending moaning.

My power is USD$0.271/kWh and I'm nowhere near Ireland.

mvdtnz··on Irish datacenters now guzzle 23% of the country's electricity
If you had trouble following the analogy that's a you problem.

I don't know who this guy is but this is just a shitty way to interact with people. Presumably he's successful or we wouldn't be talking about him without any introduction, but I wouldn't hire this person to sweep the floors at my office.
mvdtnz··on EU Parliament greenlights Chat Control 1.0
Ever worked with Europeans? This is how they treat work. In their culture taking vacation and actually switching off is part of the job. I'm not making a value judgement but their approach to work is very different to what some of us are used to.
mvdtnz··on Grok 4.5
So where are these mythical savings coming from? You're saying they have spent more per user therefore can charge each user less or something? I'm not following.
mvdtnz··on Resetting Xbox
Valve switched existing games to Rubikon to avoid paying licensing fees for their former physics engine.
mvdtnz··on Resetting Xbox
So not games.
mvdtnz··on Resetting Xbox
Is it your theory that they are making games and not releasing them? Because I have doubts about that. A company that isn't releasing games isn't making games.
mvdtnz··on Resetting Xbox
Counter Strike 2 is a 14 year old game. DOTA2 is a 13 year old game.

Yes I know Valve makes money selling games. They don't make games.

mvdtnz··on Resetting Xbox
Valve doesn't make games. (within the margin of error).

> Interest in physical media has actually been on the upswing

Sure it has. Just like how demand SD card slots and 3.5mm jacks on phones is on the upswing. If you only read tech forums.

mvdtnz··on Resetting Xbox
> Too much effort is going for dazzling graphics

Could have fooled me. I haven't seen a meaningful improvement in game graphics for at least a decade.
