murphy1312··on Restore full BambuNetwork support for Bambu Lab printers
Just make sure never, ever to buy from them again. It's the same story as Synology with their forced reliance on specific hard drives. As long as there are still other providers out there...
murphy1312··on Show HN: I'm making a detective game built on Wikipedia
Yes, could not continue, that was too much.
murphy1312··on Ross Ulbricht granted a full pardon
It is a relic from the time when most countries had kings who could pardon people.
murphy1312··on Reflecting on 18 Years at Google
Started using startpage.com for google results without the ads and its pretty good.
murphy1312··on Ask HN: Why there are no Android mini phones?
yeah its kinda sad.. you have to look at older models. currently im using a Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact with linage os (android 10).
murphy1312··on Data portability, the forgotten right of GDPR
that is by no means an easy way.

easy would be a button on the profile page for example.

murphy1312··on Beyond Meat’s Beyond Burger life cycle assessment (2018)
It's not one step removed, it's 90 steps out of 100 removed, right? The important part here is the consumption of resources, 90% less land/water/energy also means 90% fewer animals that had to die for the product. (Also we could enforce more environmental protection measures while still being able to feed everyone.)
murphy1312··on Amazon knew seller data was used to boost company sales
are there no antitrust laws in the US, so that amazon could be split into marketplace, own products and aws? Thats what should have been done long ago and no need to stop at amazon either.
murphy1312··on Intel to spend $20B on two new chip factories in Arizona
i don’t think it’s going to happen in any case. it depends on what the USA does. if the position is like in the cold war: "this way and no further" china will probably not risk a nuclear war.
murphy1312··on How I hijacked the top-level domain of a sovereign state
if he was smart, then he said nothing that sounds like blackmail. but you could say, for example, that I have to settle the expense of reproducing it and writing it down properly or something similar.
murphy1312··on Poland plans to make censoring of social media accounts illegal
once suppose the polish politician says something that is not allowed in other countries, so for example facebook has to delete it. but in poland it must not be "censored". what should happen then? i think smaller companys will have start geo/ip blocking countries then. great.
murphy1312··on Response to “WireGuard: great protocol, but skip the Mac app”
agreed, as a developer i don't need an android device to test, just open a simulator and most things will work. on the other hand you cant even compile for ios with a linux/windows pc.
murphy1312··on Firefox 83 introduces HTTPS-Only Mode
yes it is. someone has to give you a certificate which the users browser accepts. even if its free today.

lets say a simple website which someone uses to display some holiday pictures. why would we need https here, if there is no login or anything like that?

it just adds an extra hurdle for not so tech-savvy users and increases the trend to abolish small private websites.

murphy1312··on My thoughts in response to the lawsuit against the Internet Archive
And thats why i like libgen..

havnt paid for a book in some time, cause most/all ebooks are overpriced af imo.

And also how can i resell my ebooks? why would i pay the same price as a physical copy then..
