mupuff1234··on US sanctions force The Netherlands off Microsoft and toward alternative NixOS
ASML sold nothing in Europe in 2026, they would implode if they stopped selling to US companies
mupuff1234··on Claude Opus 5.5
> the only way to have influence on the pace of the race is to be one of the winning players

Yeah I don't buy that, every additional player is just adding fuel to the fire.

Would the cold war be "safer" if it were US, Russia and a 3rd player? Of course not, it would just make it harder to coordinate any safety measures.

mupuff1234··on Claude Opus 5.5
So they care more about being 1st place than slowing down the race.
mupuff1234··on Claude Opus 5.5
If they're trying to slow down AI progress why did they release a new model? What's the rush?
mupuff1234··on Claude Opus 5.5
That's just false.

Less companies involved means less pressure to go fast.

mupuff1234··on Claude Opus 5.5
What happened to "slowing down"?

If it works but the design is terrible - is that still success?
mupuff1234··on Mamdani Bans AI in NYC Schools
But I assume students already aren't allowed to just submit genAI output and afaik most classes don't involve computer use, so what's really the change?
mupuff1234··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
Doesn't Europe already have a digital service tax?

Bitmap brothers are also responsible for one of the most underrated RTS games imo: "Z"
mupuff1234··on Uber SubmitQueue: a high-performance speculative merge queue
I don't understand how come monorepos never just got "solved", and why git didn't expand in that direction.

I switched from a company with a monorepo to one without, and it just feels like going back to the stone age.

mupuff1234··on “Code was never the hard part” is an insult to all programmers
I feel like almost every standout product in the world was a result of someone with good instincts and not the results of XFN communication.

Unfortunately it is still the job...

mupuff1234··on Changes at Google DeepMind: Demis Hassabis from CEO to Chair, Jeff Dean departs
Why would they do this extra step if that were the case?
mupuff1234··on U.S. used 'virtually all' of its long-range precision missiles during Iran war
Moving resources within an organization isn't exactly robbing.
mupuff1234··on U.S. used 'virtually all' of its long-range precision missiles during Iran war
> A fourth person familiar with the matter said that while Central Command — which oversees U.S. forces in the Middle East — has nearly used up the land-based missiles it had before the war began, it has been able to reload from U.S. military supplies elsewhere in the world.

The title seems fairy inaccurate

mupuff1234··on Interview with Boris Cherny [video]
I was using Opus 4.6 until 2 days ago with no CLAUDE.md or anything and it was great.

Tried out Opus 5 and it's been a super annoying experience out of the box.

mupuff1234··on ARC-AGI Leaderboard
You really think they saw the jump in arc-agi-3 (which they reported in their official card), and didn't even bother to check?

They maybe have not intentionally benchmaxxed, but they certainly know that's what happened .

mupuff1234··on IRGC claims it destroyed Amazon's Bahrain data center
And what in the deal will stop them? It's a deal about nuclear capabilities - the previous deal certainly didn't prevent their conventional armament.
mupuff1234··on IRGC claims it destroyed Amazon's Bahrain data center
So again, let's say the agreement doesn't hold - how exactly is that worse than before?
mupuff1234··on IRGC claims it destroyed Amazon's Bahrain data center
Yes, it's as simple as that, Trump just wants his name on the deal.
mupuff1234··on IRGC claims it destroyed Amazon's Bahrain data center
Maybe because signing a new deal is better for your country and your people?

Like what's the worst case scenario that happens to iran if they just signed a new deal? How would it have been any worse than the current situation?

The deal doesn't even require a high level of trust - worst case they just go back to the previous situation. Making a deal only has an upside, even without trust.

Just like employment at will - and yet having a job is better than no job in most cases.

mupuff1234··on NYC may require landlords and realtors to disclose the use of AI in listings
Doesn't this already fall under consumer protection laws? False advertisement & consumer fraud.
mupuff1234··on US and Iran announce deal to end military operations
I didn't say they would, just refuting the claim that:

> What is surprising is how co-opted the Biden admin was by Israel, that they didn't even bother to even consider reentering it

mupuff1234··on US and Iran announce deal to end military operations
Except Biden did try to restart the talks.

mupuff1234··on Pentagon raised threat of Israeli spying on U.S. to highest level, sources say
Israel would be deeply impacted by the results of the negotiations, so is this surprising or unexpected? Any nation including the US would most likely do the same in a similar scenario over what is considered to be almost existential negotiations.

Not sure what adding the ramblings with an LLM will add.
