mun2mun··on What We Don't Know About Spying on Citizens: Scarier Than What We Know
People at r/conspiracy are like "I told you so" :). Also free software supporters are feeling same thing I hope.
mun2mun··on Ask HN: Alternatives to HN
I also check slashdot for humor. Most of the time they are childish. But some comments have deep humor, like this one http://developers.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=3779397&c...
mun2mun··on Embrace, extend, extinguish: How Google crushed and abandoned the RSS industry
Well there was a service named Aiderss that did ranking based on internet popularity which was renamed PostRank[1]. Google bought the company behind it in 2011 and discontinued the service instead of integrating it in Google Reader.

mun2mun··on Users don't like social login
One example of this is pud's launching of fandalism.com. When he announced the site on HN[1] some HNers complained about Facebook only login. But he was still able to get 400,000+ signups within 3 month[2].

mun2mun··on World trembles in confusion and/or fear at Iran's fiberglass airplane
How much do you know about that country besides regular media propaganda? Now lets look at it from other side

mun2mun··on Dropbox – A nebulous future
Well for Google Drive you pay almost $30 annually for extra 25GB space. $10 per year for 20GB if you use SkyDrive. Plus both Google Drive and SkyDrive support online doc editing. So yes it is really too much for paying $10/month for 100GB space which I may not use fully for foreseeable future.
mun2mun··on How far has Microsoft fallen?
> MS wants enterprise to adopt Win8 Pro on Intel devices. Which practically all are around 1000$ and have a battery life of 4 hours.

Not all devices will have 4 hours of battery life. For example core i5 Acer Iconia W700 is reported to have 7 hours of battery life by engadget http://www.engadget.com/2012/12/14/acer-iconia-w700-review/. Also intel clover trail is also reported to have good power efficiency. We will know the truth in next 6 month I hope.

mun2mun··on Google Disabling Exchange Sync for Free Accounts
In 2-3 years Google Play will bring half of Google's total revenue. Only god and google knows what will happen during that time.
mun2mun··on Why everyone loves the iPad mini (even though the screen sucks)
Also there is a popular thinking among Apple apologists that Samsung is copying Apple and taking Apple's lunch. In reality Samsung single-handedly proved Apple wrong on various things. They created a market for "phablets", proved that stylus is still relevant in normal operation, content creation. If Apple have implemented half of the feature presented in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L930NbUKgJY Apple will be hailed for "revolutionary innovation". Until then Apple knows that users do not use these "features".
mun2mun··on Urbanization of Dubai
I would have praised him if he have made universities that are on par with Stanford, MIT (which would have cost 1/10th of cost of current development). They have seen shinny Vagus but failed to see why they shine.
mun2mun··on Gmail.com was down
I think more appropriate link would be http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4821928. Gmail downtime is still negligible WRT maintaining your own mail server. But the problem is the downtime of ecosystem built around it.
mun2mun··on Google Promises To Bring December Back To Android 4.2 “Soon”
Well by "little things" I also meant bugs. Clock UI and new lock screen designs etc are matter of personal preference.
mun2mun··on Google Promises To Bring December Back To Android 4.2 “Soon”
And new release of Android 4.2 added some more "little things" http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/11/19/android-4-2-gate-her.... I find it amusing that major tech news sites are very quit about it while they were beating drums about same issues happening in Windows Phone 8 devices just two days ago.
mun2mun··on Google Promises To Bring December Back To Android 4.2 “Soon”
Every company has its own share of date related bugs

Microsoft: http://arstechnica.com/business/2012/03/how-a-leap-year-bug-...

Apple: http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/10/apple-deleted-2am-and-2pm-...

mun2mun··on December Does Not Exist In Android 4.2
While QA testing is not. Specially it is current year.
mun2mun··on Android 4.2: December month missing in calendar
Blame the reviewers for not focusing it. Also this is why I stopped being an early adopter.
mun2mun··on Lawyer sues Microsoft over Surface tablet storage
Well that does not solves the problem actually. Windows library does not index files stored in the SD card and apps also needs a special permission to access to the SD card. See here http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2012/11/surface-disk-space-a-....
mun2mun··on Rampant Abuse of Push Notifications Is Ruining Them For All Developers
You may like Microsoft's approach http://blogs.msdn.com/b/windowsstore/archive/2012/06/27/impr...
mun2mun··on An Alternate Universe (Microsoft Surface)
Just look at the caption of third image. He is so much into trolling that he didn't mind pulling his son into it.
mun2mun··on Siracusa on Microsoft
If Microsoft was serious about ditching OEMs on device sales then surface and surface pro would have been priced at $300 and $600 respectively and would have been shipped with touch cover. They have enough cash to subsidize them. It is not about bypassing the OEMs. Surface devices are Microsoft's attempt to set a standard on Windows 8 devices. It is a signal to OEMs that they must think twice before installing a crapware that hampers usability.
mun2mun··on Facebook, I want my friends back
Why are you thinking from just on page's perspective? Most of the time a page is liked when a friend of the user shares a post from the page that the user finds interesting, it may be a kitten image, funny joke, a post about your favorite movie/actor, or about a good food on a restaurant etc. Number of pages he likes depends on how much he uses Facebook. If he is moderately active the number of pages he likes would certainly reach 3 digit number. Now imagine 15 posts per day from each of the pages! It is definitely annoying. Now you are saying about "Most Popular" setting, on which criteria will you define a post belongs to popular category? Recommendation engine is a hard problem. Page owners may complain that their pages are not getting any traction. So I think it is a fair option to pay a small price to Facebook to make sure that the post of the page will surely reach to its followers.
mun2mun··on Apple loses UK tablet design appeal versus Samsung
Also Apple have to put notice on their website and newspaper/magazines saying that Galaxy tab does not "copy" iPad for 6 month http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-18895384. Big humiliation from Apple's side.
mun2mun··on IE10 on Windows 7 available in November
Well IE10 in Windows 8 scored first at RoboHornet web performance benchmark which is released by Google http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/robohornet-pro-ie10-web-... .
mun2mun··on Enhancements to Shell and Vim Productivity
Or create a vagrant VM that almost emulates your web deployment server and develop in it while using any OS you like for other purposes :).
mun2mun··on The State of JavaScript - Brendan Eich
He seems ok with it http://twitter.com/BrendanEich/status/254010839701544960
mun2mun··on An Object is not a Hash
I think this problem can be easily solved by encapsulating access/creation methods of posts objects in a object say postStore where posts variable is private property and the object have savePost(slug) and getPost(slug) methods where access/creation methods are defined by yourself. If posts object is that much mission critical than it should not be exposed to outer world.
mun2mun··on US lawmakers say Huawei poses security threat
But support is not free. When it comes for durability Huawei/ZTE devices are worst of them. I am sure same is true for their networking equipments.
mun2mun··on Microsoft’s cloud service SkyDrive is great, and no one has noticed
I can give one example of shared folder madness. When Palm announced new WebOS SDK beta 2.5 years ago, they distributed the sdk via dropbox shared folder among the beta users. The sdk was whooping 500+ MB of size(Linux, Windows, OSX installers were added). Among those users there were some users having free 2GB account. As sdk size were added to their quota, some of them regularly deleted the sdk folder to save space. As the folder was shared, it was also removed for other beta users. Palm regularly had to regularly had to add the folder again. Hilarity ensued :) They even had to put some dummy text file naming "PLEASE DON'T DELETE THESE FILES'.
mun2mun··on Google Search Referrers Disappear In iOS 6
Does it create a monopoly situation?
mun2mun··on Does everyone hate MongoDB?
Point me a doc(or a tiny little red note link, like in the 32 bit installer download page) where 10gen says that you will need a dedicated MongoDB DBA to maintain production server. You see 10gen marketing machine have successfully created a perception that MongoDB is so much magical that you don't have to worry about data. New programmers with less knowledge in RDBMS are buying this argument. And most of the time they start into development just after reading basic tutorial. This the problem GP is trying to address.
