mun2mun··on Does everyone hate MongoDB?
> But unfortunately they seemed to spit in the face of DBAs and Ops people a long time ago by proclaiming them to be unnecessary and archaic.

>>WTF ? I have never heard 10gen say anything remotely like this.

From the "Ease of use" section of their Philosophy page http://www.mongodb.org/display/DOCS/Philosophy,

This means that MongoDB works right out of the box, and you can dive right into developing your application, instead of spending a lot of time fine-tuning obscure database configurations.
There goes the indirect jab to the RDBMS DBAs wasting their time.
mun2mun··on Apple accused of ripping off famous Swiss clock design
Nope, Apple took Swiss clock as base design optimized it for better iPad UI experience.
mun2mun··on Apple Botches China and Japan Maps in iOS 6
Do you think Steve would have tested the new map application in all countries iPhones are sold? I am sure Steve would have taken same decision as he have already took 'thermonuclear` stance against Android hence indirectly Google.
mun2mun··on Apple Botches China and Japan Maps in iOS 6
Problem is that it is the content that Apple have no control. Main reason of Apple's great user experience is full control over every aspect of hardware/application. Apple should have heavily tested TomTom's map data across various country before ditching Google map. Ironically Apple is getting same criticism as Microsoft got over the year for BSOD in Windows(most of the time it was for faulty driver/hardware which Microsoft didn't control).
mun2mun··on Amazon Maps API
I think map data is from Nokia[1]. API interface may be same as Google API's.

mun2mun··on Google and Alibaba Continue Warring Over Acer Phone
Google is threatening Acer to not make phone based on Aliyun OS while Haier Group who is another member of OHA have already shiped an Aliyun OS phone[1]. No question of "fragmentation" were asked back then. Hypocrisy at its best.

Edit: See http://www.openhandsetalliance.com/oha_members.html for list of OHA members.

mun2mun··on Journalist goes undercover making the iPhone 5 at Foxconn
People who are in disgust in Foxconn incident should also look into the factories where cloths they were wearing are made http://www.pbs.org/wnet/religionandethics/episodes/may-18-20.... It is standard rule in capitalization. Businesses have to get goods/materials from the cheapest source available. No questions asked about how the supplier achieves it as long as it doesn't get worse. And yes, this article is pure propaganda stunt.
mun2mun··on Plugins you should put in your vimrc
Well the forum is not actually an anonymous forum, the site owner is creator of command-t plugin. When I encountered crash after installing command-t after upgrading to 7.3 almost 1.5 years ago the first google search led me to that page (now first result is this page http://chrislaco.com/blog/gettimg-command-t-working-on-windo..., even better with instruction).

I also had no problem installing it in Ubuntu/Mint. Just removed vanilla vim and installed vim-gtk and then compiled command-t.

Command-t is actually my only non-vimscript plugin in my plugin list, and it is rightfully so :). I tried to cope with CtrlP, but it feels too slow for me for large collection of files. Also its fuzzy matching is not on par with command-t. I have actually no problem to take this little hassle to install command-t for performance consideration :).

mun2mun··on Plugins you should put in your vimrc
Installing command-t is fairly easy on windows. Just compile as instructed with latest ruby 1.9 + devkit and replace gvim.exe with the one specified in this page https://wincent.com/comments/6544.
mun2mun··on Vagrant core no longer tied to VirtualBox
Honestly, does it matter? Do I have to always code in "ruby-ish" while coding in ruby. What should take more preference? Solving a problem or maintaining "ruby-ish", "python-ish" idioms. Besides if the author feels that he can maintain his codebase this way then I don't see any problem in it. I also do not like tone of trashing vagrant just because it's code base is 'shitty'. Vagrant has been godsend for our office synchronizing configurations across multiple machines. It may be easy for some geeks to create a development system using seven command. But there are people who aren't bothered or have less time digging very deep into every documentation on earth. They want to quickly find a base solution for their problem which they can tweak to their need. Vagrant solves problems for those people perfectly.
mun2mun··on AppFog Pricing Released
I once tried to setup Symfony2 framework in PHPFog which is sister concern of AppFog. It did not went nicely. As Symfony2 generates classes in cache folder adding permission to that folder was tricky. Also have to clear the cache to push new changes. Dotcloud is better on this case. It gives shell access to both web server and db server.
mun2mun··on Xamarin raises $12M to help you make better apps faster
It seems that this post is heavily flagged. 60 points in 2 hours, was top post in front page then suddenly vanished from front page. Very odd.

It was discussed in reddit a week ago http://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/wi4bf/inappropriate_m... .
mun2mun··on Firefox 15 plugs the add-on leaks
I am really happy that Firefox 15 stops most of the leaks caused by firebug. Competition is good.
mun2mun··on Ask HN: Who is building a new kind of search engine?
I think wolframalpha has a great potential to disrupt current search engine market in future.
mun2mun··on Apple is back on EPEAT
So you are saying that putting a laptop in a shredder after removing the toxic battery easily is an outdated recycling practice?

P/E ratio can also go down if annual earning per share increases. I think it is too early to comment on that. They have HUGE user base and I hope they have a good chance to increase their profit. Lets wait and see :)

Or some thing like that :).

mun2mun··on Apple responds to NYT: "We're among top payers of U.S. income tax"
So all Microsoft bashing happened here for this tax collection news is irrelevant. And those who bashed Microsoft there are some narrow minded people who doesn't get the Big Picture?
mun2mun··on Apple responds to NYT: "We're among top payers of U.S. income tax"
