If you need an ML engineer (pytorch or ggml) email hz4944554@gmail.com

I have side projects in Rust, Javascript, C and many other languages. I've worked back end, front end, embedded, built massive web-scale distributed systems and one off prototypes.

Yes I'm short apple (as of August 2025 $206 average price)

msgodel··on Do not download the app, use the website
>"remember me FOREVER" button, implemented kinda like SSH keys.

Here's a better idea: just use openssh or at least openssh's key formats since none of the big companies can manage anything better.

msgodel··on Do not download the app, use the website
This could have just been TOTP.
msgodel··on Do not download the app, use the website
I actually do not want your garbage persisting on my machine and if you want to notify me you can ask for my email and maintain the required infrastructure to send me notification emails.
msgodel··on The sad state of font rendering on Linux (2018)
It works on Xterm for me, I didn't enable anything special except using a vector font.

That's something that OSX doesn't even have now.

msgodel··on Women dating safety app 'Tea' breached, users' IDs posted to 4chan
I think making prostitution illegal was probably a mistake. This used to be confined to brothels and everyone shamed it.

I've thought about buying throwaway phone numbers just to troll linkedin. I'd be surprised if people weren't finding ways to get accounts on apps like this for trolling.

The only reason I haven't is because it feels like LinkedIn may have already jumped the shark and I wouldn't really get the value for my money.

msgodel··on Air Canada returned lost bag, it now had knife, toiletries, ticket scanner inside
If I were in charge people would have to gate check anything larger than a laptop bag. Overhead luggage makes deplaning take probably 10-20x as long and that can be a safety hazard in an emergency. That's an extra 30~60 minutes total completely wasted even when there isn't one.

I actually know someone who did contract IT support for them. I'm kind of surprised by how at least the IT component operates. It looks to me like there are multiple middle men trying to outsource nearly their entire company to the absolute cheapest thing they can find.

Maybe all airlines work that way but I can't imagine that results in something functional.

msgodel··on American sentenced for helping North Koreans get jobs at U.S. firms
Not to mention the tentacles some other more near Asian countries have into both industry and the state.

I'd be ok with going after traitors if it were actually traitors to the American people rather than the global status quo. But I guess that's part of living in a late stage empire.

msgodel··on Why didn't Biden release the Epstein files?
Yes I meant from the voter's perspective obviously.
msgodel··on Why didn't Biden release the Epstein files?
It's obviously a MAD situation and everyone's in them.

The whole point of Trump was to just steamroll over this sort of thing and ignore the criticism. To see him cowering from it is incredibly disappointing.

msgodel··on Employee – CEO pay gap historically wide
It's weird to see complaints about this here when it's almost as easy to apply for a CEO position as an IC one on this site.
msgodel··on AMD CEO sees chips from TSMC's US plant costing 5%-20% more
You don't import apartments or even the materials used to manufacture them. Arguing tariffs drive rent prices rather than the cost of luxury consumption and corporate capex any more than the progressive income tax does is absurd.
msgodel··on Distillation makes AI models smaller and cheaper
You could probably use some heuristic on the tokens trained to try to weight customer service related data higher.
msgodel··on Open Source Maintenance Fee
Oh I remember these guys! One of my first internship projects was modifying a wix installer for some internal corporate software.
msgodel··on Open Source Maintenance Fee
I was under the impression a number of open source projects already worked this way. There seemed to be a small industry of essentially consultants maintaining Busybox that way for example although maybe I misunderstood the situation.
msgodel··on AI overviews cause massive drop in search clicks
The only necessary cookies would be a session cookie for that domain which doesn't need a popup under the GDPR.

I always use the inspect tool to just remove the popup. Interacting with it could be considered consent.

msgodel··on AI overviews cause massive drop in search clicks
Don't forget the drop in device performance/battery from the ridiculously spammy analytics scripts they force on you.
msgodel··on Itch.io: Update on NSFW Content
Capital one/discover has their own network. So at least in the US it's not a duopoly.

Not that it's much of a help here.

msgodel··on How YouTube won the battle for TV viewers
I wrote an extension to deal with these sorts of addictions. One thing I noticed works incredibly well is only penalizing time spent with pages focused, so things like background music/documentaries are fine. You end up developing really intentional habits with the web and actually taking time seriously.
msgodel··on Cops say criminals use a Google Pixel with GrapheneOS – I say that's freedom
Still waiting for the day I get in trouble with the cops for not having a phone at all.
msgodel··on AI overviews cause massive drop in search clicks
I don't know, a bunch of the older people from the town I grew up in avoided using LLMs until Grok came out because of what they saw going on with alignment in the other models (they certainly couldn't articulate this but listening to what said it's what they were thinking.) Obviously Grok has the same problems but I think it goes to show the general public is more aware of the issue than they get credit for.

You combine this with Apple pushing on device inference and making it easy and anything like ads probably will kill hosted LLMs for most consumers.

msgodel··on AI overviews cause massive drop in search clicks
People are already wary of hosted LLMs having poisoned training data. That might kill them altogether and push everyone to using eg Qwen3-coder.
msgodel··on Uber will let women drivers and riders request to avoid being paired with men
The more of this kind of natural discrimination we make illegal the less meaningful public markets will be and the more people will choose to:

1) Just not socialize

2) Do things under the table.

Let people pay the premium for what they want. Sometimes there are good reasons for it. Stop pretending to have an apodictic understanding of both the world and morality.

msgodel··on Why does raising the retirement age hurt young people?
This is another reason why market based, self directed, retirement accounts make far more sense than pensions: they scale with production. With pensions you have the option of pissing people off or crushing the people who are working (whether that's the company or the working population of the state.)
msgodel··on When Is WebAssembly Going to Get DOM Support?
The classpath that came with the JVM was much more well thought out than the web is. That's the real problem.
msgodel··on US AI Action Plan
>Removing Red Tape and Onerous Regulation

What red tape? Anyone can buy/rent a GPU(s) and train stuff.

msgodel··on AI Friend Apps Are Destroying What's Left of Society
Fundamentally people don't want to be around each other, certainly not strangers, and the perceived (likely even real) consequences of it are an expected net loss.
msgodel··on US companies, consumers are paying for tariffs, not foreign firms
Everyone keeps talking about "taxing the rich." Then Trump decides to tax luxury consumption and they all wig out.
msgodel··on OpenAI CEO tells the Fed that entire job categories will disappear due to AI
Meh. Exposing the CMS to the public with appropriate permissions could have also done this. That's the approach Google tends to take for example.
