mrscottson··on Nearly half of Twitter accounts pushing to reopen America may be bots
No need to leave the country to find well capitalized suspicious characters.

I'm sure the CEO of Jet Blue (the guy that funded a phony study to minimize covid) and execs like him would gladly astroturf on twitter.

mrscottson··on America's Growth Ponzi Scheme
If buybacks were banned, would companies be so fragile that they require massive bailouts?

If these buyback didn't create extremely overvalued/frothy markets, would the bailouts need to be as big?

I think over leveraging is as toxic for markets as many intuitively expect.

mrscottson··on Warren Buffett’s Berkshire dumps most of Goldman Sachs stake
>Lol, that’s clearly untrue

I don't think you know Buffetts track record.

mrscottson··on Google deletes “communist bandits” from comments on Youtube
>It's high time they conform to the western liberal democratic model of government.

Seems like we haven't learned anything over the failed regime-change exercises of the past 2 centuries.

mrscottson··on JPMorgan Extends Banking Services to Bitcoin Exchanges
>Moving Bitcoins between wallet is not anonymity and does not give you plausible deniability against law enforcement.

Moving fractions of bitcoin between 100+ wallets using something like coinjoin absolutely gives you plausable deniability and anonymity, how would anyone know what % is still in your custody?

With enough people doing this, eventually all bitcoin will be tainted. At that point will exchanges start to refuse 100% of all bitcoin being deposited?

I think its more likely chainalysis goes bankrupt.

mrscottson··on Warren Buffett’s Berkshire dumps most of Goldman Sachs stake
> Warren Buffet is currently overrated because he doesn't invest in a lot of tech stocks...

He's also overrated because of all the insider trading he engages in....he would be a lot poorer if the SEC had the resources/will to investigate his moves.

mrscottson··on Tesla superfandom becomes toxic, negative for electric revolution [op-ed]
Many of them see through the facade of false choice, and the fact that their is only one political party in this country when it comes to a large % of issues. I don't blame them, you shouldn't either.
mrscottson··on JPMorgan Extends Banking Services to Bitcoin Exchanges
Let the hop wars begin then..., I know it's easier for wallet makers to add more hops to anonymizing tech than for chainalysis to deanonymize the transactions....when 90+% of the wallets do this by default, that company will probably have to shut down.
mrscottson··on James Damore and three others end Google suit
I don't think there is a big difference between these two groups.
mrscottson··on Wells Fargo temporarily suspending applications for home-equity lines of credit
Good ideas except they should not invest in the stock market, there is no guarantee that we hit the bottom even though many would like to believe so. Better to put that money in gold or other similarly scarce assets.
mrscottson··on China mocks U.S. coronavirus response in Lego-like animation
The timeline is 100% accurate, anyone that follows international trade/news was aware of the dangers by the end of January.(I personally remember reading the papers about the virus's genome mid-January)

It seems we are in a period where most of our politicians would rather not take responsibility for dropping the ball and are trying to lie about observable and well catalogued recent history.

mrscottson··on At a time when leadership is rare, Bill Gates stands tall on Covid-19
Many people are extremely disconcerted about bill gates' (and his family's) history and his inability to stop smiling at the most innapropriate times during most covid-19 interviews.

World Economies crashing, smile... Need to Vaccinate 7 billion people, smile... Potentially Millions of deaths, big cheesy smile...

mrscottson··on Universa tail fund returned 3,600% in March
The problem is not Taleb's trading method, it would provide a great return if the US had free markets...what the fed is currently doing is more akin to communism, bailing out and buying up all the essential industries.
mrscottson··on Apple Reports Second Quarter Results
The Fed is artificially keeping interest rates low allowing idiotic stock buybacks to continue for almost no cost, keeps the cost of investor speculation cheap and they are bailing out companies that have bad non-performing loans (banks included)...

The Fed's "Rube Goldberg activity" holds up the stock market...uuuuntil it doesn't.

mrscottson··on Why are Soviet math textbooks so hardcore in comparison to US textbooks? (2017)
I think US universities are forced to cover things again due to a failure in the K-12 system of schooling that precedes it, and the lack of adequate testing to weed out ill prepared individuals.

In many countries, these kids would probably not get into college in the first place due to failing preparatory tests. In the US there are many financial incentives to pull in as many kids as possible and that may cause a lowering of barriers.

An observation in the maths, many countries in Asia cover calculus at the middle school level and continue into high school, in the US I noticed many public schools categorize calculus as an advanced (sometimes elective) high school subject.

mrscottson··on GitHub has completed its acquisition of NPM
I'm sure the prism/NSA angle is still in play, how easy is it to compromise millions of projects in production owning both github and npm?
mrscottson··on Economists who defend disaster profiteers are wrong
"scarce donor organs are not allocated based on ability to pay, but in other ways"

That only is true if we ignore the organ black markets that many millionaires/billionaires have access to.

mrscottson··on Poverty, not trauma, affects cognitive function in refugee youth: study (2019)
I know you are using your experience as an example...but I think with real poverty, you probably wouldnt know much about nutrition and neither would your parents...with enough caloric difficiency and without proper nutrition, much of the decision making/studying/long-term-planning abilities degrade quite rapidly.
mrscottson··on Coronavirus May Kill Our Fracking Fever Dream
As I understand it, fracking doesn't even make economic sense at $70+ oil... The whole industry uses accounting scams to stay alive.
mrscottson··on Airlines want to cancel rule requiring them to refund fares for canceled flights
C level executives of these companies buyback stock to unlock stock performance bonuses early....they will borrow money to do it if interest rates are low and if they know they will get bailed out during bad times....

All this "we are doing it for shareholders" tripe is nonsense. Buying back stock at all time highs is the most idiotic thing a company can do because it says the business has no better use for said money, which imo is one of the dumbest conclusions a company can come to if growth is the goal (is your R&D department so useless that giving the money back to shareholders is the best allocation choice? Silly)....I'm including companies with a huge war chest like Apple, they are not an exception to this truth.

Many companies (run by idiots) have concluded that financial engineering is more useful than R&D, these badly managed companies should be left right in front of the "market firing squad" when the market turns against them inevitably... No bailouts.

mrscottson··on Amazon to hire 100k warehouse and delivery workers
Hilarious but probably time to leave this site...I got down voted into oblivion for pointing out the US economy would probably collapse due to repo operations 44 days ago...

Too bad, I guess anyone thinking outside the box and pointing out that our herd is going off a cliff is problematic...

mrscottson··on India lifts ban on cryptocurrency trading
Makes it a bit more difficult for counterfeiters to debase the currency if you only allow smaller bills... The counterfeiters may be individual or state actors engaging in an economic attack.

Bitcoin can't be counterfeited, so it solves a $100 billion dollar problem.

mrscottson··on China to inject $174B of liquidity on Monday as markets reopen
The emergency repo operations were required long before the coronavirus, we have liquidity issues in the US. Economy will start to collapse shortly... Fed can't expand the balance sheet without exacerbating the problems.
mrscottson··on Apple Reports Record First Quarter Results

mrscottson··on Apple Reports Record First Quarter Results
Well, they should let that (units sold) number decline on the public disclosures...

Reducing investor visibility into a publicly traded company when numbers start turning negative is a huge flaming red flag.
