motiw··on We need a post-inbox era therapist
Take a look at Centask https://www.centask.com/ (developer here), It takes the concepts of inbox one step forward and suggest a complete workflow solution, where all tasks and task-related information, including Gmail inbox, are organized and scheduled in one list/hierarchy. Any feedback will be appreciated
motiw··on Ask HN: Someone working on a Inbox (by Gmail) alternative?
I am the developer of https://www.centask.com it has reminders and todo's with Gmail emails in the same list or hierarchy
motiw··on [dead]
Keep a strict routine of exercise and/or aerobic, even at most stressful times. If you fail to keep the routine, use it as a warning sign that the stress level is out control.
motiw··on Ask HN: Which gadget or software has made your daily life better and why?
The new google news android app has good read suggestion, It is the first none-rss daily feed i found interesting enough to keep
motiw··on Ask HN: Whats the best alternative to Inbox?
Centask is a task manager integrated with Gmail inbox. You can hide emails by scheduling them you can also group emails, to-dos, links and files under the same task.
motiw··on Ask HN: Google Inbox is shutting down, what should I use now?

motiw··on The US has spent $1.5 trillion on war since Sept 11 attacks
I think the main story here is the mismangnent of this funds
motiw··on Ask HN: How do you keep track of all of your productivity tools?
Not too much feedback yet (just about to add it to the chrome app store). In general people that works on multiple projects or with multiple clients are more likely to get it and try it. If they manage to avoid the habit of processing emails in Gmail inbox they are more likely to convert and love it.
motiw··on Ask HN: What is your most unpopular idea/belief?
I am not right nor left wing. As am extreme center and practical I irritate both sides of the political map.
motiw··on Ask HN: How do you keep track of all of your productivity tools?
I developed Centask to address the chaos you are describing including Gmail. The idea is to organize and schedule Gmails, todos, links, ideas, etc. in one master outline/todo list. The tools you are describing are online tool so each of their tasks has a unique link which you can add to Centask with a click on a bookmarklet which adds it to Centask Inbox. you can then schedule it, add subtask to it, drag it as a subtask to other tasks, add notes to it etc. The key is that all items including links and gmail are treated equal and have exactly the same set of features
motiw··on Ask HN: How do you take notes?
For meeting summaries I use paper, if i need it searchable I will type it into a single google doc title meeting summaries. For actionable notes I forward to my email (android app named Mail Mysels), and then I use Centask to manage and schedule a single outline composed of emails, todos, notes, links, and google drive files/images
motiw··on Ask HN: What types of knowledge are worth knowing?
Beyond your profession, I think history can be interesting, provide perspective on current events, and contribute to a good conversation
motiw··on Ask HN: What websites can save you time/money when starting a business?
Competitor Insight from semresh or spyfu
motiw··on Ask HN: Where else do you get your news?
New google news app works well for me.
motiw··on Ask HN: What are some niche communities you enjoy?
Stair Climbing https://www.meetup.com/Stairclimbers-LA/
motiw··on Ask HN: Favorite note-taking software?
I separate notes into two categories "Actionable" and "Reference I may need in the future" For Actionable I use "OK Google, note to self" to send to my email and then use a tool I developed to manage Actionable email/todo/links/files etc. For "Reference I may need in the future" I use Evernote and add keywords I may use for searching
motiw··on Why Your Health Insurer Doesn’t Care About Your Big Bills
Many years ago my daughter had the same procedure twice in a the same year in the same hospital and the price approved by the healthcare was much higher for the firt time, when our deductible was not yet met. I can think of ways the "deductible left" may be used to maximize profit for both the hospital and the healthcare
motiw··on The Average Age and Years Served of Members of US Congress Every Year Since 1789
Something to think about. Congress approval rating is at all time low, about 19%, however years members serve is at all time high
motiw··on Why Is U.S. Health Care So Expensive? Some of the Reasons Turn Out to Be Myths
The solution could be a government lower cost alternative to the private health care so they can keep each other in control. Same as us post office does for ups and fedex
motiw··on Why Is U.S. Health Care So Expensive? Some of the Reasons Turn Out to Be Myths
I recently realized that maybe the biggest scam of the American health care is that we pay twice for healthcare. when young and healthy we sponser the profit of the health insurance industry and sponsor the older people higher expenses through taxes (Medicare)
motiw··on Why the U.S. Spends So Much More Than Other Nations on Health Care
Simply because it is acceptable to maximize profit from people fears and misery, coupled with shameless politicians that support/bend to the will of the health care mafia with a regulation environment that diffuse any incentive to lower cost
motiw··on How Easy and Cheap It Is to Manipulate Reddit Discussions
I am experimenting with Postwaves to eliminate vote manipulation by randomly assigning who can vote
motiw··on Revisited: Watership Down
I read the book in second grade and the following paragraph has made a great impression on me and still does

"One day the farmer thought, 'I could increase those rabbits: make them part of my farm--their meat, their skins. Why should I bother to keep rabbits in hutches? They'll do very well where they are.' He began to shoot all elil--lendri, homba, stoat, owl. He put out food for the rabbits, but not too near the warren. For his purpose they had to become accustomed to going about in the fields and the wood. And then he snared them--not too many: as many as he wanted and not as many as would frighten them all away or destroy the warren. They grew big and strong and healthy, for he saw to it that they had all of the best, particularly in winter, and nothing to fear--except the running knot in the hedge gap and the wood path. So they lived as he wanted them to live and all the time there were a few who disappeared. The rabbits became strange in many ways, different from other rabbits. They knew well enough what was happening. But even to themselves they pretended that all was well, for the food was good, they were protected, they had nothing to fear but the one fear; and that struck here and there, never enough at a time to drive them away. They forgot the ways of wild rabbits. They forgot El-ahrairah, for what use had they for tricks and cunning, living in the enemy's warren and paying his price? "

motiw··on Ask HN: What are we doing about Facebook, Google, and the closed internet?
I am experimenting with a new approach to preventing manipulation and biases in feeds. We use an algorithm to randomly crowdsource people to rate articles on their topical relevance and usefulness. Results at postwaves are still preliminary but encouraging.
motiw··on Why I don't believe in Uber's Success
I think they will start making money when they will stop fighting and figure how to do "price fixing"
motiw··on Let’s replace Twitter with something much better
Dynamics is very different than Reddit since each new post is sent only to a small random group of users to vote whether it should be public, no one else sees the post before that, and voter dont know who the submitter is so votes are less biased.
motiw··on Let’s replace Twitter with something much better
Would love you gentel opinion on a related experiment we have with crowd moderated forums. If each group member rate just one new post, the group as a whole can collectively filter through thousands of ideas. See more informaion here http://blog.postwaves.com/about
motiw··on Ask HN: What are your hobbies, and why are they cool?
I have a bit of unusual hobby, climbing stairs twice a week in Los Angeles. I walk for about 5 miles each time, climbing about 1400 stairs. I drive about half an hour to the location, but it is my only way to increase my heart rate to about 160 and I enjoy it. For LA there is a wealth of maps and information in http://bigparadela.tumblr.com/post/117609135946/routes-timet...
