> I don't care about changing your viewpoint, for all I care, you stay you, so anyone who can see through that thin veneer can see they should stay away from a fool.

And yet you keep coming back with nothing but ad hominem (cheers spellcheck guy). Right, I'm gonna leave it there; it's been emotional. All the best.

If you think there is little difference between someone who does not believe the climate is changing and someone who can well believe it is (that's what the climate does), but isn't entirely convinced it's man-made there's not much I can do about that. Funnily enough AI returned the following on the Stefan-Boltzmann law: The Stefan-Boltzmann law is a fundamental physical law that helps explain Earth's energy balance, but it doesn't account for the greenhouse effect, which is a key part of the climate system Anyway, I was pleased to have this pointer, and intend to look more thoroughly in to this life/fence permitting. BTW, I do not think ad hominim attacks are the way to bring someone over to your way of thinking. Cheers.
moominpapa··on I am rich and have no idea what to do
Come on,this post is a wind up, right?

You appear to have created a straw man. Your prompt assumes I am a climate change denier, when it might have been better to have labelled me a man-made climate change skeptic. Not sure chatGPT is the way to go on this one as I'd imagine it will be weighted towards the consensus. There was once a consensus that the Earth was the centre of the Universe. Anyway thanks for the link, I enjoyed it.

OK, will read, much appreciated. Just have to deal with my fence that blew down in the high winds we had in the UK yesterday - climate change no doubt (joke). Thank you.

Yes, the implication is there and I am happy to be shown why CO2 is so key when man-made contributions to that tiny amount is so small also

That wasn't my point entirely but admittedly it was a part of it. I have not heard a good reason for why a trace gas has such an effect. Bearing in mind that 0.04% is total CO2 and human produced CO2 is a tiny fraction of that - can't seem to find an agreed on percentage on that one but happy to be enlightened. The other point I was making is that when I have asked that basic question to people who are seemingly frightened of the effects of CO2 I have got massively inflated guesstimates e.g. 50%. I just think if you are going to be scared and try and scare others you should know at least that.
moominpapa··on One surprising psychosis treatment that works: Learning to live with the voices
"Researchers can’t fully explain the growing epidemic of people suffering from psychosis, particularly younger men." - well let me take a wild guess: cannabis maybe?
moominpapa··on Why sprints are taking the joy out of building software
Does anyone else suspect that agile, whatever its stated intentions, has been coopted as a smokescreen for micromanagement? 20 years ago I worked on a large non-it related project that was slipping and I was tasked to call at the end of each day every team working on the project to ascertain the progress they had been made that day. It made me very unpopular as there was a tacit lack of trust in the process. Back then I feel, it just was not done to make skilled workers explain themselves on a daily basis. I suspect the younger generation have been cowed and normalised to a much higher level of scrutiny leading to creativity and joy being sucked out of the working day.
moominpapa··on Why Scrum is stressing you out
Once upon a time, ivory tower "programmers" met in a cafe or something and grandiosely produced a manifesto called Agile and unleashed merry hell for poor souls who just want to produce something that works. Instead they must listen to managers who haven't written so much as "hello world", tell them how it should be done. I don't care of the intentions, it has been coopted into corporate micromanagement and busy work for deadwood corporate lifers. Enough, the original authors need to get back in that cafe and explain where it went wrong.
moominpapa··on Toyota confirms third-party data breach impacting customers
I worked for Toyota in the UK once upon a time. They used CDK Drive for their Dealer Management System. Could that be the 3rd party culprit? Couldn't have happened to a nicer company ,lol.
