montag··on Free Quality SoundFonts (Sf2)
Good resource. Some of the piano SoundFonts here are available in https://chiptune.app (Yamaha Grand Lite 1.1, Chateau Grand Lite 1.0, Abbey Steinway D 1.9, Steinway Grand 1.0). Play a MIDI file, open Settings tab, find them at bottom of SoundFont menu. (You can also drag-and-drop SF2 files.)

If you mean physically modeled piano synthesis, then I'm unaware, but also very interested to know
montag··on Spotify Car Thing will be discontinued
There are engineers at Spotify who read Hacker News. They've noticed the threads. Maybe there's one reading at this very minute. Create a burner and speak your mind, comrade.
montag··on Spotify Car Thing will be discontinued
Yes. Absolutely. In many ways, I think Car Thing did the inverse of what I expected it to do. It was mounted on my dash for a total of about 5 minutes.
montag··on Apple apologizes for iPad 'Crush' ad that 'missed the mark'
Folks, this is not plagiarism. It’s simply unoriginal.
montag··on Identifiers are better off without meaning
Rdio used a one-letter prefix for entity types. The company was bought & sold before it became an issue.

I agree with the author. But practically speaking, for every example where semantic IDs broke down, there are probably 10 examples where it worked out fine. Just a thought.

montag··on Bollards: Why and What
I hope we can soon restrict human-operated cars.
montag··on Shoot Out Between the Udio, Sonauto and Suno AI Music Makers
Video has been removed. Are you the owner?
montag··on Can Demis Hassabis save Google?
I don't understand how this warrants the label of "charlatan."
montag··on Show HN: Flatito, grep for YAML and JSON files
Colloquially just sideache, AFAIK.
montag··on Scientists have traced human tail loss to a short sequence of genetic code
Neat. Now could they please do the same for hair loss? :)

montag··on California Approves Waymo Expansion to Los Angeles and SF Peninsula [pdf]
Cylon + vehicle = KITT (Night Rider)
montag··on Sora: Creating video from text
My vote is yes - some sort of intermediate representation is involved. It just seems unbelievable that it's end-to-end with 2D frames...
montag··on Unicomp's "New" Model M Keyboard
I have a vague memory of setting up a Windows 3.11 machine at my dad's office to emit typewriter clacking from the PC speaker on keypress - and a separate carriage return ding for the enter key...I'm sure no one was annoyed!
montag··on Show HN: A platform for remote piano lessons based on the Web MIDI API
This looks pretty cool! Would love to see a quick YouTube demo of the product in action. What's the biggest benefit of the MIDI capability, in practice?
montag··on We saw a Pi running underwater at CES in Las Vegas
What does ROV stand for?
montag··on Report: YouTube adding user-traceable ID tag to links shared off-platform
Copy that. It was about 3 seconds though
montag··on Show HN: YouTube banned adblockers so I built an extension to skip their ads
Recent product improvements have also made this process really easy.
montag··on I trapped scammers in an impossible maze [video]
Sounds like you are talking about a very specific place. I object to the reduction that "most things in the world are some form of a scam." High-trust societies do exist.
montag··on Waymo says insurance data shows its driverless cars are safer than humans
For better or worse, Americans love cars. (Happy for you, though.)
montag··on FastGPT
Seems more like SlowGPT right now.
montag··on The Timer in WatchOS 10
Kudos to the author. Went through a ton of effort to put together what amounts to a bug report on a silver platter. I hope it reaches the right audience within Apple.
montag··on Making a music library without a SPA
It’s also common to see a seek bar that is too thin and hard to click.

montag··on YouTube using antipattern to force people enable history
Seems pretty benign as far as dark patterns go.
montag··on Bringing Safety check to the Chrome://extensions page
Very good adversarial thinking.
montag··on The Nature of Glass: Technologies of Transparency, Materials on the Move
If you seek an interesting scientific explainer on the nature of glass, look elsewhere.
montag··on A surprisingly simple way to foil car thieves
No offense to the GP, but geez that comment belongs in some kind of Hacker News hall of fame
montag··on Chiptune.app
Noted.

Yes! Proud owner of Pianoteq myself. Performance MIDI + Pianoteq is better than a recording, because it's so tweakable, and has a noise floor of zero.

Can't tell you how glad I am to hear that at least one other person has used Chip Player JS this way.
