modsearch··on Show HN: Replin – A cross-platform P2P selling profile built on Ethereum
Hi all! We built a universal checkout page for sellers to show off their selling reputation, get paid via PayPal, import existing feedback from marketplaces like eBay, and continue earning reputation tied to their sales.

Transaction history and ratings are stored on Ethereum so the data is decentralized, publicly viewable, and verifiable. We believe sellers should be able to take their history and reputation with them wherever they sell - and buyers should be able to verify who they are dealing with, even when buying outside of established marketplaces.

Here is my selling profile as an example: https://replin.com/geehwan

Click on reviews and you can see the Ethereum transactions of completed Replin sales.

Currently in beta, we are targeting places like IG, Twitter, FB, Reddit, where we realized lots of people buy and sell stuff already.. mostly to escape fees from eBay etc, but also because it's more fun.

Our team currently runs Listia (YCS09) and the two products are integrated. Sellers can bring their entire Listia selling history to Replin and all future Listia sales are also synced to Replin. We extracted the basic buy/sell flow of a typical p2p marketplace transaction and built it into Replin for transactions outside of marketplaces. Long term we think people should be able to transact safely anywhere, while owning their own reputation and data.

Would really love any feedback, especially if you sell online or on eBay etc.. thank you!

modsearch··on Ink – Decentralized reputation and payments for p2p marketplaces
Hi, I’m a co-founder at Listia. We are building Ink using our 8 years of experience with all the difficult aspects of building a marketplace.

Also we think it’s time to shift the ownership of reputation away from companies, even us. eBay and others have had a monopoly over your feedback and reputation for too long :)

Feel free to ask me any questions and I’ll do my best to answer them, thanks!

modsearch··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (March 2016)
Android Developers | SF Bay Area preferred | Onsite | Full Time | Salary + Equity + Benefits

https://www.listia.com

Listia is a mobile marketplace where you sell things you don't need and get stuff you want in return, for free. Earn credits by giving stuff away, and use those credits to get things you really want from other users.

We are looking for someone to own, build new features for, and improve the Listia Android app.

modsearch··on 57 YC startups' Twitter follower growth over time
we were able to get ours after registering the trademark and then waiting for the twitter account to be dormant for 1 year. Luckily, no one was really using it. If it was not dormant, I suspect it would have been much harder if not impossible to get.
modsearch··on 57 YC startups' Twitter follower growth over time
we'd love to see how @listia does over time (S09)
modsearch··on A World (Online) Without Money
From a legal standpoint, I honestly don't know... but doing something like that sounds like a good way to quickly go out of business, which would be much worse than the possible legal repercussions imho :-)
modsearch··on Gift HN: Anybody want a subdomain of ww.com?
gee.ww.com -> 64.21.98.56

I think its taken, but if abandoned, I'd love to have it for my blog, thanks!!

modsearch··on Mixpanel Launches Tool To Analyze Email Analytics
We have switched ESPs 3 times since our startup launched... it would have been great to have all the data on a service like mixpanel instead of starting over each time. On top of that, we also use a mix of ESPs and our own mail servers from time to time, so mixpanel's service would help there as well to consolidate everything.
modsearch··on Stop Being a Wimp
Awesome "Any Given Sunday" reference.. here's the video if anyone hasn't seen it. Watch it and get motivated :-) Good stuff

modsearch··on Ask HN: Do you have a startup spouse?
Very cool concept. My wife could probably write a book about what she puts up with... a supportive spouse makes all the difference. I'll tell her to follow the blog :)
modsearch··on I Think Facebook Just Seized Control Of The Internet
Does anyone know if we are supposed to rewrite our old FB Connect code using this new stuff? Seems much cleaner anyway

modsearch··on Signed copy of PG's "On Lisp" (out of print) - for charity
We will implement consistency fixes asap. However, I don't think there are any more giraffes on there :) all the auctions on there are from real users and we try our best to moderate the fake or silly ones :)
modsearch··on Signed copy of PG's "On Lisp" (out of print) - for charity
sorry about the wording. It's clear in all the FAQ and about pages, but I guess we ran out of real estate where some of the text is shorter. Will get right on this.
modsearch··on Signed copy of PG's "On Lisp" (out of print) - for charity
I see what you mean here. In general our users are using credits they already own, but when you have to buy the majority of them it can get quite annoying as you said. For the time being, rest assured that you'll have no problem returning unused credits. Thanks again for the feedback. This is one of our first high-vale items and we are monitoring the dynamics of bidding and buying credits :)
modsearch··on Signed copy of PG's "On Lisp" (out of print) - for charity
Hello, we implemented it this way since eBay is the most popular auction site out there and that's how they've always done it. However we do understand the confusion here. Do you think it's better to change the wording or simply move away from a proxy style auction? We hae been debating this internally as well but always deafult to eBay's functionality in these cases. You can use the contact form to request a refund. Just give us your username and it will be done right away. Thanks for the valuable feedback.
modsearch··on Signed copy of PG's "On Lisp" (out of print) - for charity
Autographed, new condition, from the box PG got when the book was published. The book goes for over $200 without an autograph as its out of print and quite rare. Its being auctioned off for charity by YC-funded startup Listia. If you do buy credits to bid, but do not end up winning, we can refund your purchase in full. enjoy!
