mnouquet··on Using government guidelines to police content: state censorship?
> Would you please stop posting unsubstantive and/or flamebait comments to HN?

No, I will not.

> Of course, it's cheap to create a new account, because we want HN to be open to newcomers

Of course you don't, especially if the newcomer don't follow your groupthink.

> I'm sure you wouldn't drop lit matches in a dry forest or litter in a city park or dump motor oil in a mountain lake. Please don't be that sort of person here.

Quite the contrary, I will love to. The ecosystem is rotten to the core. Stop being a coward and own who you really are. You are not "open". You are just as close minded as the people you claim to fight against. I've been banned from many forums, from HN to right wing ones, developed a thick skin in the process against mere splinters.

mnouquet··on Bay Area cities want to end single-family home zoning
> because earlier planners were confident 50 years ago that single-family homes were the best option

SFH IS the best options, nobody WANTS to live in an apartment if given the choice.

mnouquet··on Using government guidelines to police content: state censorship?
If promoting a certain snake oil because you'll receive government favours, then it IS censorship, cf. all the Title IX unconstitutional enforcement following threats of pulling federal fundings.

In this case, GAFAMs are scared as can be from being "regulated".

mnouquet··on British right to repair law excludes smartphones and computers
And naturally, it's blasphemous on HN to speak about it.
mnouquet··on FCC reaffirms $3M fine for marketing unauthorized drone transmitters
> Making an official complaint to the appropriate government enforcement agency is the exact opposite of “vigilantism”.

You're right, it's straight delation.

mnouquet··on British right to repair law excludes smartphones and computers
> Why journalists don't call it as fraud?

Because those who write these laws are the same signing the journalists' paycheck.

mnouquet··on British right to repair law excludes smartphones and computers
> People want thin phones

[Citation needed]

My "thin" phone double in volume with the require case, so "thinness" is really a joke...

mnouquet··on British right to repair law excludes smartphones and computers
It is actually a pretty good system for the CCP "politburo".
mnouquet··on British right to repair law excludes smartphones and computers
which is gonna be useless if the part require write-only firmware which you cannot extract from the original part, eg. macbook's SMC.
mnouquet··on Village of Lytton, B.C., evacuated as mayor says 'the whole town is on fire'
Southern BC is very much a desert and barely sees any snow in winter, yet negative temperature.

mnouquet··on Village of Lytton, B.C., evacuated as mayor says 'the whole town is on fire'
On 10 July 1913, temperatures at the aptly named Furnace Creek area in the California desert reached a blistering 56.7°C (134.1°F).

mnouquet··on Village of Lytton, B.C., evacuated as mayor says 'the whole town is on fire'
Co-worker from Mumbai (yeah, here-say, I know) mentioned temperature up to 50C in the summer.

mnouquet··on Village of Lytton, B.C., evacuated as mayor says 'the whole town is on fire'
BC had more than a millions acres burned a couple years ago. 85% of the damn province is forest, ravaged by beetle. Lots of tinder just waiting to catch fire, no excuse.
mnouquet··on Windows 11 on Raspberry Pi 4
There was a post yesterday about someone installing it on a recent machine and then swapped the drive to an older allegedly "unsupported" old machine and it worked just fine. YMMV.
mnouquet··on Guerrilla guide to CNC machining, mold making, and resin casting (2015)
If you need more than a good bridgeport mill to make a firearm, you don't deserve to be in a shop... All you really need to make an AR lower is a drill and some aluminium plates. Heck, pakistanies are making a plethora of firearm with nothing but files...

Just because they take credit for what they did in the past doesn't mean it will happen again. When did the ACLU last take the KKK's defence ?

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/06/us/aclu-free-speech.html

The ACLU actively advertised in the Kavanaugh nomination.

Then an ACLU trans lawyer stated: “Stopping the circulation of this book and these ideas is 100% a hill I will die on.”

Then in 2018 they covertly backed Stacey Abrams (democrat).

Then an ACLU editor wishes death on a republican senator.

and so on... The ACLU has very much been gangrened by the marxist.

Existence of such groups is not your original assertion. You stated:

> People are disinclined to support your rights if they see you as advocating against theirs.

By that argument, the Libertarians would be loved by everybody, but they aren't, because it's no longer a discussion on ethics, it's a fight over holly dogma. The ACLU will no longer support people on the Right in the name of Free Speech. Lines in the sand have been dug by the left, and they no longer crosses them. The right, (ie. the MSM's fascist) however do it all the time because they are the most open ones. If you are a gay 1sh amendment absolutist, you aren't gay, you're just a nazi. The ancients Greeks are no longer the bases of our culture/civilization, they're esclavagist.

mnouquet··on Quad9 and Sony Music: German Injunction Status
This might have been the case maybe 30 years ago, today's mentality is really all about submission to power, their power. If they say "put a hand on your stomach, one on your head, and turn from right to left singing the International on a single hand", you better do it, or fear being cancelled.

> Always look at why someone wants to censor

Just as if logic was working. Last time I checked from the Smithsonian woke bullshit, logic itself is racist... Oh well.

> we do need to have sex-ed in schools, you need to talk about homosexuality

Over my dead body. My children will not hear about any trans / Kinsey reports bullshit, or even CRT clusterfuck for that matter.

Worked so well for Parler, Damore, or even Trump.
mnouquet··on Is education no longer the ‘great equalizer’?
What does China has to do with the actual conversation ?
mnouquet··on Is education no longer the ‘great equalizer’?
Are 95% (to be conservative) of the tech unicorns US-based ?

At this point, you can start drawing a trend. European successes are more the exception than the rule, which is kinda irrelevant anyway as 95% of European successes will end up being merged into a US behemoth...

mnouquet··on Is education no longer the ‘great equalizer’?
> Until the iPhone, Europe dominated the mobile phone business

There was no such thing a "European domination", it was all Nokia, and to a much lesser extend Ericsson.

mnouquet··on Is education no longer the ‘great equalizer’?
Nobody in the US pays the full 21% after taking into accounts credits and write-offs.
mnouquet··on Costa Rica Has Run on 100% Renewable Electricity for 299 Days
None of these qualify as "industry" being mostly tertiary.
mnouquet··on Costa Rica Has Run on 100% Renewable Electricity for 299 Days
That's probably not accountable as "renewable"...
mnouquet··on Vancouver School Board Is Eliminating Honors Programs
This ideology comes straight from the totalitarian outcome of the French revolution and its thinkers, eg. J.J. Rousseau, Robespierre, but also from the Catholic church itself. The Vatican "pezzonovante" preaching for poverty vows while sitting on solid gold shitters in luxury palaces build by slaves, not much different from modern day "celebrities" flying private jet to their luxury houses while preaching the "green new deal".
mnouquet··on Vancouver School Board Is Eliminating Honors Programs
No, the Marxism is in having kids at the top being leveled down because of the kids at the bottom in the name of "equity" / equality of outcome.
mnouquet··on Vancouver School Board Is Eliminating Honors Programs
I made no argument about viability, merely about facts.

Of course they do have something in common, indoctrinating the youth is the foundation of any regime.
