How much crypto is borrowed on platforms like Compound against USDT? That collateral takes a 5% haircut, we’ll see painful liquidations. 10% or 20%? Fire sale everywhere.

Anything but paying up front for a year.
If there was a free tier I’d download and try it.
Some days it really feels like there is nothing new under the sun.
I think the future of "cloud gaming" looks a lot more like Shadow than Stadia.
I tried moving some prediction market contracts on US Election Day, couldn’t trade anything due to traffic volume. This feels familiar.
Decades of technical and legal work went into our stock exchanges, the bitcoin bucket shops are a few generations behind. It doesn’t matter until suddenly it does.
I don’t recall it ever surprising me or behaving poorly.
You saved me a click and a lot of disappointment!
The Great Trump Moral Panic (good phrase) is exhausting too much energy from the public attention. It’s clearly in his interest to maintain the Panic over non-stories, these will always drown out any real stories in tomorrow’s paper.
You define a few data types to communicate about, and call procedures remotely with them. I mean it’s right there in the name!
Unfortunately it doesn’t come with a Methodology you can cram your business or research problem into. It just wants to talk about your problem. Way too on-the-nose for many tastes.
It needs a religion attached, then masses will follow.
It’s strange to have been playing this game long enough to see a full cycle.
Here be dragons.
The adults in the room want more Facebook in your life at any cost, totally rational goal for the organization to live on.
I would bet a day or two of bad press from Mark's VR stunt is probably worth the bump in engagement and publicity.
I'll add my experience in the hope it helps others. We should form a meet up, or at least a mailing list. I bet there are a lot of us here.
The Absolute Best Thing You Can Do in this situation: Learn to recognize and manipulate your own emotional states. Take control over what you bring into the room.
On the worst days, your partner will have little no of this ability themselves. Pick up that slack and things get better faster.
Read Covey, Carneige, and Cialdini for starters. They will together persuade you that you're much more susceptible to the emotion of a moment than you thought you were. And, you'll learn to see how others have controlled the emotions you've felt in the past, to drive your behaviors. It feels like magic, like cheat codes, when it clicks. And that click is the beginning of a real empathy for what you're seeing in them.
You'll also learn how to get someone talking effectively about emotions in a way that loosens the hold, and gets the logical part of the brain re-engaged.
Reading and talking are great, but there's so much more. Find a hobby or group that forces your hand to work nonverbal communication skills. You need somewhere to practice reading others' cues and responding with your own.
Work that long enough, and you'll start to see impending anxiety before your partner experiences the brunt of it. You'll also see the anxiety states they weren't telling you about, some of which they didn't recognize as anxiety either.
At that point, you've leveled up your own emotional awareness you can start leading your partner (mostly nonverbally, sometimes in detailed conversation) to raise their own. That inspires confidence. Confidence is what you want, it's the long con (ha), and a few victories in a row will let the both of you reach for new goals: things that seemed impossible months or years ago just aren't anymore. IMHO, that's the best life.
The golden cuffs _will_ click if you stick around any time at all and have even slightly bad luck: Maybe you burn out before vesting, or the company blows an acquisition that would've fit your schedule and your payout/life goals.
Waiting around after you hear the click becomes a losing game. Find another one to play, it's a big world.
We threw every rule out the window in the name of performance _when fetching raw data from external sources_. So we had weather station networks, NOAA forecast runs and NASA satellite data in a workable schema in our shop way faster than average. Mix of C, PowerShell, Perl, and the nonstandard parts of T-SQL, highly parallelized, tricky but fast.
After the "workable schema" was established, the rules came back and we acted more responsibly. Smart instead of clever.
Ran this stuff all day long, getting every piece of data asap. Things that can only be calculated with a full day of data we poked and prodded the meteorologists to express in "partial aggregates", which to me were just like the map steps before an EOD reduce.
Took a lot of mutual understanding and iterating but worth it in the end. When the ultimate data source (satellite or radar site for us) posted its last hour of data, we were 95% done with the day's computation work. We do our last step, publish our numbers, and bam, Our ag clients have this stuff a day earlier than they are used to.

This makes me so happy - MS products leaving old browsers behind gives all web developers a ball and bat in the same fight.
Agreed.
A few years of writing expressive, powerful, performant SQL in big blocks will really change your mental model of data across _all_ languages.
I highly recommend a deep dive into the relational world, and I feel super grateful for the SQL-focused job I held previously. Brought those lessons back with me to both FP and OO.
So just... why take _these_ risks? It doesn't have a realistic chance of helping any viable strategy that I can think of.
I've noticed just the presence of the game - even if my table doesn't play - greatly reduces screen time and habitual notification checks.
Norton, OTOH, would happily delete nmap.exe and cain.exe then beg for praise after the fact, a kitten with her first kill.
There exist a million reasons you do not want not-quite-stop-limit orders on SPY or GOOG in your personal account, you are up against trade execution systems that smoke your retail broker not to mention this outfit (who you now put between you & your broker).
Please do not bring a butter knife to a gun fight and lose your shirt.
