Then Senators should stop blaming Iran for them. It’s irresponsible

You wouldn’t do well in Vegas.

I never said anything about it being random. I think many people share the opinion of the content authors, and thus 'like and share' the content, causing it to go viral. You should understand that normal people are deeply sympathetic to the Gazan civilians because they see the images coming out of Gaza, images of children whose limbs have been blown off by 2000 lb bombs dropped on apartment buildings, and are horrified by the violence being done to the innocent.

Even if that were true - is that a valid excuse for censorship? Certainly not. Freedom of speech means freedom of speech. Period. It doesn't mean freedom of speech that you personally agree with or that passes some arbitrary bar of rhetorical quality.

I hope you display the same sensitivity when it comes to Gaza. Really tired of Western hypocrisy.

mixed feelings about this. Tiktok was highly addictive and destructive to the brains of young teenagers, but at the same time it was one of the few media platforms that allowed criticism of Israel to go viral. Instagram is similarly addictive and destructive. There are charts showing the rise of depression in female teens that coincides directly with the rise of Instagram. But Instagram also actively censors criticism of Israel. The government wants to redirect young people towards these enclosed pastures to better herd them.

Thank you for point that out. What is the parent comment talking about?
mjfl··on Will plants grow on the moon?
yeah plants tend to be polyploid which helps with robustness to radiation damage.

mjfl··on $200M a year, 700k tons of rice, space tech: deal for North Korea in joining war
you said

> they didn't have a military alliance.

Please just admit you were wrong. If you cannot do that then there is no point in responding to you.

mjfl··on $200M a year, 700k tons of rice, space tech: deal for North Korea in joining war
Constantly amazed by the big-brain takes around here. Please see the link below describing Russia and North Korea's mutual defense pact:

Indeed. We can all learn from Ray McGovern, retired CIA analyst who gave the daily brief to President Reagan who is now a peace activist: https://consortiumnews.com/2019/11/14/ray-mcgovern-ukraine-f...
mjfl··on $200M a year, 700k tons of rice, space tech: deal for North Korea in joining war
North Korea and Russia have a military alliance. When an ally goes to war, you send your troops. Therefore, I don't understand the hysterics about the troops in Kursk. They are no more than 1/30th of what's currently on the front line. More of a training mission for the North Koreans than anything else.

I think this sentence makes more sense if you are talking about Ukraine and its partners.

The genocide in Gaza?
mjfl··on Jeff Bezos killed Washington Post endorsement of Kamala Harris
For the past 100 years, literally since WWI, all media organizations have been used to constantly launder opinions into the brains of the American people, disguised as 'fact'.

> like the Russian army who are absolutely having their asses handed to them by a vastly inferior force.

I was with you until you said this.

mjfl··on Code that helped end Apartheid
These are relatively easy to google. Here's at least one of the incidents they referred to

It's actually a common point of rhetoric:

mjfl··on Code that helped end Apartheid
That is a hopelessly optimistic statement. Wait until the Israelis write the history, they will have your grandchildren worshipping at their feet for surviving the Hamas onslaught.
mjfl··on Being generous, thoughtful, and kind is a sign of high intelligence
Some of it is probably real, like repeat offenders of predatory crime. If you've done multiple violent robberies there's probably something in your brain off that allows you to do all that.

There's a predatory ecological niche in every society. Very common in nature too. Altruism is less common than predation in nature, it seems.

Though in the workspace, you may be onto something.

mjfl··on To Be Born in a Bag
an orphan is absolutely not the same thing as a 'baby on demand'. God you people are tedious to talk to.
mjfl··on To Be Born in a Bag
Suddenly babies can be born without parents to advocate for and protect them, opening them up to exploitation. Persons can be born en mass, in factories, genetically engineered, as in Brave New World. Men and women no longer have families as anchoring purposes with some sort of corporate overlord as 'parent'. That's not a human life. I think this should be obvious to people and obvious why premature care is not the same thing.
mjfl··on To Be Born in a Bag
completely different.
mjfl··on To Be Born in a Bag
The day the first human is born in an artificial womb is the day we cease to be humans, and become something else.

HN, increasingly, seems like a space where free discourse is not allowed.
