mitxela··on 'That's so AI ' What gen Alpha's biggest insult tells us
I don't know exactly what it means either. Really I just mean "thought" and "critical" is an intensifier in this comment.
mitxela··on Dutch governments builds alternative for Microsoft based on NixOS
Yes, as a $19 profit per user.
mitxela··on Dutch governments builds alternative for Microsoft based on NixOS
If it's good, will they ever find out?
mitxela··on Dutch governments builds alternative for Microsoft based on NixOS
Those are all problems codeberg doesn't want on its system. Allowing a codeberg user to comment on someone else's system wouldn't bring those problems to codeberg.

Do you have an email account without a spam filter?
mitxela··on Entering and Breaking the Avast Antivirus Sandbox Part 2
npm viruses were pretty successful
mitxela··on Entering and Breaking the Avast Antivirus Sandbox Part 2
No, the point is that every time your computer isn't doing something you want it to do, you should be able to download a software package to make it do that.
mitxela··on Nobody Asked for a Crab Chair
Flagged for AI writing
mitxela··on Platform-independent SIMD in Go
I define undefined behaviour as a bug in C++. Now C++ is memory-safe!

btw, it's not actually that hard to write correct code in C++, easier than in C because you have all the container types. The problem is that nothing will tell you when you write incorrect code - there's no guarantee.

mitxela··on Factorio that you can touch
Yes. Several GB. I had to enable half resolution to play modded Space Age.
mitxela··on Factorio that you can touch
Literally what I just said
mitxela··on Oracle on the hook to pay data centre investors even if site has no electricity
We've been seeing early signs for 3 years. How long does it take?
mitxela··on Factorio that you can touch
Remember that Factorio does not release its 3D models. Everything in the game is a 2D render of a 3D model, which is why the game uses so much VRAM.
mitxela··on Special Projects (2016)
GPT-3 is only applicable in a narrow field too, but that field is "speaking English" which activates the Eliza effect.
mitxela··on Platform-independent SIMD in Go
you can dereference nil in Go and it panics
mitxela··on Platform-independent SIMD in Go
Rust does allow you to overflow buffers, confuse types, and duplicate mutable pointers in safe code. See cve-rs.

For some reason they always only manage to recover 1% of the money

> Debian neither endorses nor prohibits the use of generative AI tools in the development, maintenance, or documentation of software, packaging, documentation, and other media published within the Debian Project.

That's a strict policy to you?!

mitxela··on Oracle cites 'force majeure' to shield itself on controversial data center
Oracle is a law business in the business of getting contracts from customers and then forcing the customers to pay money.

The substance of the contracts is an afterthought.

mitxela··on Oracle on the hook to pay data centre investors even if site has no electricity
by De Morgan's law though they are NOT AND NOTacle.
mitxela··on The Mafia may be keeping fentanyl out of Italy
Unpredictable market forces the black market is subjected to. Europe doesn't have as much fentanyl for the same sorts of reasons America doesn't have as much ketamine.
mitxela··on I'm Tired of Being on the Network
I have no idea what you're talking about. I haven't yet run into an app that requires integrity attestation and doesn't work on Graphene. Even my bank works, although it flagged me as someone who probably stole my password, until I scanned my passport and face a few more times.
mitxela··on I'm Tired of Being on the Network
Do you track your bank balance yourself?
mitxela··on Nobody Asked for a Crab Chair
You're not taking it literally enough. Obviously some investor or executive asked for a crab chair.
mitxela··on CVE-2025-13032: Entering and Breaking the Avast Antivirus Sandbox Part 2
So your solution is that general purpose computers should be restricted in which code they can run.
mitxela··on CVE-2025-13032: Entering and Breaking the Avast Antivirus Sandbox Part 2
That's only because Linux doesn't have working antivirus though. If it did, you'd want it.
mitxela··on CVE-2025-13032: Entering and Breaking the Avast Antivirus Sandbox Part 2
Processes are already hardware paravirtualization, and some early implementations even called them VMs. However, https://xkcd.com/2044/ is inescapable.
mitxela··on Dutch governments builds alternative for Microsoft based on NixOS
What do you think "mostly" could mean?
mitxela··on Dutch governments builds alternative for Microsoft based on NixOS
Codeberg's AI position was about resource waste. Single-user AI projects were spamming their CI/CD as if they were KDE or the kernel.

They don't care if someone wastes their own resources.

mitxela··on Rails World 2026 Opening Keynote [video]
Given that we know he's literally a fascist (it's in all his political posts) that jives. "Embrace what we want or get mercilessly crushed" is a very fascist position.
