It seems as though the sanctions were levied aggressively as a long term play. I’m curious how their effect is over time as it seems to disrupt their trade quite a bit. I’ve read contextual reports but would like for someone to tie it all together and put a 5 year hypothesized forecast on it.
Agreed. I was being somewhat tangential to the article at hand and responding more to the catnip comparison. I can only recall a few articles that were particularly well-reasoned.
I think society has been somewhat brainwashed into the importance of online marketing. I like scientific approaches that refute that. For example, I don’t think that people should be following their dentists and plumbers on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Agreed. A decent interviewer can also determine a person’s understanding of a topic by simply talking to them about it. IE why did you build a model like this? What diagnostics did you use? Have you tried ____ before in your career?
Not sure why the downvotes but that’s a crucial question. Unfortunately, products from the 90s have been deemed fancy and had their prices increased by a multiple of around 15, at least in the US.
Not to be intentionally contrarian, but do you have a data source for the vacancy rate?
My understanding is that some states have been losing people net and have still had rents and home values skyrocket. I think an increase in Airbnb would be one possible contributor.
That is also meaningless. I have an overlapping feature set with Jeff Bezos in that I’m alive and have eyebrows. This doesn’t mean that there are meaningful financial comparisons.
What is your crypto position and why have you taken that position?
This makes no sense as crypto doesn’t have the same feature set as currency. It is like comparing a small number of razor scooters to the transportation network. They don’t belong in the same sentence.
I’d think that like fb, they collect data on individuals regardless of accounts. One example of this is their facial recognition services. Given that they force higher pricing of products not on their page, it becomes challenging to simply “go somewhere else.” It’s also been shown that they extract business data from their aws customers.
I’d dispute the ton of independent buyers given the amount of bids placed by the top 10 corporations. Even if the bids are rejected it still has a large effect on pricing
I think many things are intentionally mislabeled as “luxury”. One can buy a simple refrigerator from Best Buy and claim that it’s stainless. I’ve seen listings brag about how the place has a Nest thermostat.
I think that there’s a tendency online to attempt to gaslight certain ideas into reality and it creates a tension because they are wrong but it can be unwise to call them out.
It seems as though academic writing manages to simultaneously use too many words and too many references. Few papers get to the point and cover the point convincingly when they do.
