mipsi··on Smashing the Limits: Installing Windows XP in DOSBox-X
My inner voice of Nostalgia just whispered: All the gorgeous pixels gone with the wind.
mipsi··on Linus Torvalds comments on the Russian Linux maintainers being delisted
That's quite a misrepresentation of his statements. "I'm Finnish. Did you think I'd be supporting Russian aggression..." is certainly not about grievance. As a matter of fact, the russian aggression is real and not about finish historical grievances.

Open source is fostering collaborative environments, while russia as a state is destroying them deliberately. How does that fit together?

mipsi··on Linus Torvalds comments on the Russian Linux maintainers being delisted
There has never been an "unprovoked aggression against Yugoslavia". More than 130K people were killed and 4 million displaced (mainly by Serb troops) and people begged for an intervention, which came to late (think about Sarajevo, Srebrenica).

It doesn't fit your narrative.

mipsi··on Linus Torvalds comments on the Russian Linux maintainers being delisted
Did you just realized that Torvald is not racist or anti-russian at all? He didn't block any russian maintainers until today (more than 2 years after russia turning genocidal imperial again).

Didn't you just complain about Linus being rude?
mipsi··on Linus Torvalds comments on the Russian Linux maintainers being delisted
I just put your "demonizing people because of their home nation" into perspective, dude. Staying in russia as a kernel maintainer and playing the political ignorant is just lost.
mipsi··on Linus Torvalds comments on the Russian Linux maintainers being delisted
You missed the point, he didn't mention history in general, but specifically "Finnish history". In this respect it's not about British colonialism but more about about Russian imperialism / Stalinism (see Russo-Finnish war 1939).
mipsi··on Linus Torvalds comments on the Russian Linux maintainers being delisted
Nearly 1 million Russians left Russia because they didn't want to end as ghouls in an imperial war, that's demonizing AND killing people because of their home nation.
mipsi··on Nothing: Simply Do Nothing
And even when intentionally doing nothing, there is some obscure desire to measure how much nothing we are actually doing. Hence the idle counter.

mipsi··on You are what you read, even if you don't always remember it
There is some irony hidden in the remark that his wife sent him the inspiring quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson, that compares books to meals having eaten.
mipsi··on Rotz: Cross platform dotfile manager written in Rust
Would like to add the colloquial expression for writing bad code and in general writing something without due diligence: "hinrotzen"

After reading this, Snowpiercer doesn't feel that awkward anymore.
mipsi··on Alexei Navalny has died
I'm not sure how to define a Russian win? Taking Kyiv? Regime change?
mipsi··on Alexei Navalny has died
RIP. After all the attacks and humiliation going back and opposing the evil lord is testimony for having skin in the game (BTW, Snowden still in Moscow?).

"Mama Cozzi's Pizza Kitchen 12" Veggie Cauliflower Crust Deli Pizza" Pizza with Cauliflower? WTF or just an Easter egg?
mipsi··on Handwriting but not typewriting leads to widespread brain connectivity
Which brings me to the idea, that mandatory handwriting could a more efficient indoctrination tool than typewriting.

> Black markets are markets that break existing legislation, not markets that are free from legislation.

Your statement "black markets are not markets without legislation" logically implies such existence. I regard legislation as a governmental act and in my opinion you stretched its meaning to an informal agreement between market participants.

But, if you meant legislation as some kind of unwritten law, that breaks state laws, i would fully agree.

mipsi··on Spotify deletes 70 Joe Rogan episodes
That would imply the existence of legal "black markets".
mipsi··on Spotify deletes 70 Joe Rogan episodes
I think its common to call markets without legislation "black markets".

Cartoons are an excellent medium for pinpointing archetypes in the world around us. I just missed the cartoon drawings in Atlas Shrugged.

So what's the difference between a booster and a recent vax (<2 months)?
mipsi··on Hungarian journalists and critics of Orbán were targeted with Pegasus
I would not overemphasize the cultural differences between the Balkan people and call Yugoslavia a super state. The history of the people there is intertwined and national divisions are very much superimposed by ideologists.
mipsi··on Cristiano Ronaldo snub wipes billions off Coca-Cola’s market value
Exactly. The next time I ditch coke for water, share price will drop by 1.7%.
mipsi··on Reclaim Windows10
This criticism is a bit unfair. It's a gist on github, which you are supposed to read and understand as the author states in his opening disclaimer. The statement for enabling SmartScreen is also included. And no, your machine gets not owned when you disable SmartScreen - there are other protective measures you can take.
mipsi··on Poll: Switching from WhatsApp
Some analogue variants for different communication scenarios I heard of, but can't comply since i am nerd: - in your neighborhood, same street, also from hill to hill: SHOUTING or YELLING (if just for signalling things, FIRE works also) - bit farther away: SCREAM LOUDER (just signals, more noise, like twitter) - same city: write on PAPER, drive bicycle and insert into mailbox (afterwards drive home) - other city/country: CALL BY PHONE (moment of silence when waiting for answer is tense) - all above but addressing many people: the above ONE AFTER THE OTHER
