They didn't invent the tablet, they made it popular.
They didn't invent the laptop, they made it a status symbol.
They didn't invent mobile apps, they made them ubiquitous.
They don't invent much, but they improve it through industry-leading design (usually) and market it and willingly lock you into it.
Apple's miscalculation here was overestimating the market's price tolerance for a category whose prosumers have already explored for 1/3 Apple's price point.
If this had been 5 years ago at half the price, they'd own the category.
Could the author get more overly dramatic?
He's very hopeful about the future of a growing population and how it can create more geniuses that can save us. He points to more people finding us more Einsteins, but he neglects to acknowledge we are just as likely to find more Hitlers, antisocials, narcissists, terrorists, serial killers and school shooters as well.
Nearly everything in our modern world is made worse with more people. Our human habitat is being depleted, our healthy food sources are becoming scarce, and we scorch the land and the air to provide modern necessities to all. We go to war over resources, and our ever-growing need for energy results in a Chernobyl or Fukushima or Exxon Valdez or Gulf War far too often.
I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but it addresses some gaps in validation for JSON, YAML and other configuration files and I appreciate their approach to the problem. I look forward to using it the next time I have a system with JSON that's unwieldy.

Honestly, Microsoft has done a good job with a browser (finally). It only took them 25 years.
I think the Bing Chat answers have gotten too concise to be useful for anything technical. It's good for quick retrieval of simple things, but I have abandoned it and ChatGPT for phind.com, at least for now.
Ask me in 3 months, I may have another system I favor. This space is evolving rapidly.
If you don't need money, like a bootstrap, the odds are in your favor.
If you are a startup that hasn't quite made a name for itself yet and the coffers are getting low and it's time for another round of funding, you're going to have a rough time.
I question this as being a problem. The ocean is saturated with the salts that are exposed on the sea floor. When there is too much salt in a solution, the excess will precipitate as solids. As the ocean is already exposed to more salt than it can put into solution, I don't think this would cause a serious issue.
