midhunsezhi··on Ask HN: How to enforce engineers to understand the code they are shipping
using AI to reply to this thread is hilarious!
midhunsezhi··on The Alpha Myth: How captive wolves led us astray
Great article but is missing sources with citations so I ran the content against GPTZero's source finder - https://app.gptzero.me/documents/124f8c4d-9fd4-43c4-93f9-713...
midhunsezhi··on I'm Peter Roberts, immigration attorney who does work for YC and startups. AMA
I was in the USA on H1-B for 3.5 years and moved to India in 2019. My employer recently applied for my H1B, but it got rejected stating that I'm subject to the fiscal year cap (“lottery”). The company lawyers have turned the case around and re-filed it because I've had H1b in the past and didn't use my full quota of 6 years and should be cap-exempt now. Have you seen this happen before? Does USCIS typically correct itself when it makes a mistake in a reasonable time? (fwiw, my case is filed as premium)

Thanks in advance!

WOW!! Glad I didn't give up after 5 minutes of scrolling. Thank you!
midhunsezhi··on How to Hire Good Engineers
> "This was my reason when I first joined, but I have so many more reasons to want to work here at Reforge now. My personal goal is to turn it into a $100M company. (Now they answer)"

Love this style. Acts as much better persuasion tactic than simply asking them, "why do you want to work at xx?"

midhunsezhi··on Waymo CEO Says Alphabet Unit Plans to Launch Driverless Car Service
FWIW, wsj is $10 per month if you enroll through google pay. Plus, they have 6 months free to start with currently.
midhunsezhi··on Functional, Stateless JavaScript Finite State Machines and Statecharts
My coworker showed this to me as a suggestion to use for capturing our existing state flows with the aim of using it as a reference when we migrate our legacy codebase to react/redux. I think this is wonderful. Any thoughts on this? I would also love some alternatives you've used to document requirements specifically for migrating existing codebase to a more manageable one.
midhunsezhi··on Around the app of the future?
I had this exact idea (literally) and I guess I was thinking too much about how to get that initial set of users way too early and ended up quitting before even finishing the development of the app. This developer is at the stage where he/she should actually work on that now and I wish them all the best! :)
midhunsezhi··on Reddit and the Struggle to Detoxify the Internet
This has been an amazing read for me. Throughout the article, I felt like more freedom can only lead to more problems. But then, by the end I realized trolls can't win over everyone else.
midhunsezhi··on Apple, in Sign of Health Ambitions, Adds Medical Records Feature for iPhone
This! If there is one thing to fix health data communications, its coming up with better spec than HL7. Nothing makes me more sad than dealing with HL7 messages.
midhunsezhi··on Ask HN: What are some good resources to learn about Crypto/Altcoins?
That is a nice website. Congrats on shipping it!
midhunsezhi··on Ask HN: What tech that's right around the corner are you most excited about?
WebRTC for all real time communications/broadcast.
midhunsezhi··on Apple Is Working on a Dedicated Chip to Power AI on Devices
Siri vs Google assistant. Google assistant being way better in understanding voice and performing tasks. I've used both iPhone and Pixel and I can confirm that Google assistant is way more smart and intelligent than Siri at this point.
midhunsezhi··on Software Developers after 40, 50 and 60 Who're Still Coding
> Programming and exercise are two of the three best ways to stay young.

What in your opinion is the third one? (Starting curious?).

midhunsezhi··on The relationship between social media use and well-being
I deactivated my facebook account and deleted my whatsapp account a little over a month ago and with the amount of free time i got, I decided against the use of instagram as well.

This article makes me feel not so antisocial anymore, thank you! :D

midhunsezhi··on Ask HN: Do you still use browser bookmarks?
I use them very rarely. Pocket has become my preferred source for storing, managing and sharing my links now.

midhunsezhi··on Amper raises $4M to use AI to write music
need for filling out excel sheets automatically is not greater or lesser than music automation. One field doesn't have to wait for the other to be solved imo.

Also, there are plenty of able workers ready to fill Excel sheet for a very reasonable price but that is not the point here either.
