mgberlin··on Show HN: Struggling with a life decision?
If you're going to offer tiers, you should differentiate them somehow. What do I get at diamond that I don't at silver?
mgberlin··on Show HN: I made a simple but smart note taking application
Neat, but I probably won't use it without vim keybindings.
mgberlin··on Show HN: HackerMoods – Trend analysis of HN sentiment
I'm not really sure what I'm looking at here. Could you put some sort of explanation for the y-axis? I haven't the foggiest what a sentiment score is, and nothing seems to really change when I put in Obama, Trump, Angular, or React.
mgberlin··on An engineer replaced four monitors with Meta glasses
For me, a non-gamer, this is the killer app for any of the new head-mounted displays. I've been waiting for years for some sort of goggles I can plug into my dev machine, put on to block out all visual distractions, and get work done.
mgberlin··on Ask HN: How do you track issues, todos, features?
I want to try your product, but I'm not going to sign up to do it.
mgberlin··on Ask HN: How do you track issues, todos, features?
I wanted to see what you've built, but I'm not going to sign in to do it. You should have a demo.
mgberlin··on How to convince your friends vertical farming is the next big thing
I think they just mean that the waste materials can be used to provide inputs to the next production cycle. Obviously the loop is not close because there is energy coming in, and grown plants going out.
mgberlin··on Money Is Pouring into Tech Like It’s 1999, and That's Not Good
Looking strictly at numbers in this situation is a bit like forgetting to account the inflation difference between 1800 and 2014. Of course the amount of money being invested in tech has grown enormously; in 1999 everyone didn't walk around with the internet in their pocket.

mgberlin··on Unofficial Google Cardboard Kit
Wow, really glad I read the comments before I put in my credit card info. Four to six weeks, you must be out of your mind. If you don't get that one the site fast you're going to have a whole lot of angry people on your hands.
mgberlin··on A Shock-Absorbing Wheel for Bikes and Wheelchairs
This seems like it might work well for wheelchairs, where performance is not a large issue. For bicycles though, it's turning a component that was once static into one that's rotating. This means the rider will have to overcome a whole new set of forces just to get the wheel moving. There's a reason people pay such a huge premium for very light rims and tires, and go through the trouble of not having inner tubes.
mgberlin··on Move Silicon Valley: America needs a tech hub in a place where it’s welcome
A huge factor that the author fails to account for is weather.

Public transit might have it's pitfalls in SF, but there are no snow days. There's no ice on the roads. There's no hurricanes, or tornadoes, or summers that require A/C at all hours. You don't really have to pay to heat your home or office all winter. You can drive to the snow if you want to ski, or you can hang out on the beach in January.

The Bay Area is a paradise, meteorologically speaking. It's the reason that people who live on the street congregate here, and it's the same reason people are willing to pay exorbitant rent. There are very few other places in the country that even come close to competing, and it's not something that even the likes of Google can take with them to Cleveland.
