metachris··on Safe YOLO Mode: Running LLM agents in vms with Libvirt and Virsh
Gave your comment a bit more thought and I kind of agree, and removed the image! Thanks for your feedback.
metachris··on Safe YOLO Mode: Running LLM agents in vms with Libvirt and Virsh
Good point! Running in isolation does reduce the amount of sensitive things an LLM has access to though, which typically can be quite a lot (SSH keys, Cloud credentials, communication tools, etc.)

I've had LLMs assist me in putting together the comparison. I did edit it, and found the comparison good and wanted to keep it. The rest of the post is all hand written and thoroughly manually tested.
metachris··on Running Claude Code dangerously (safely)
I recently wrote a blog post about just that - how to run LLMs in Lima VMs: https://www.metachris.dev/2025/11/sandbox-your-ai-dev-tools-...
metachris··on GitLab discovers widespread NPM supply chain attack
Absolutely, good old VMs can really provide the needed isolation while still having good UX. I just published a post on setting up dev VMs with Lima: https://www.metachris.dev/2025/11/sandbox-your-ai-dev-tools-...

Can you work less (maybe for some time)? Getting yourself bigger chunks of free time might help. All the best!

TLS doesn't help here, because state actors (including China, Russia) own trusted root certificates, which allow them to TLS-terminate for _any_ website they choose and silently decrypt/MITM the traffic.
metachris··on Stripe's Monorepo Developer Environment
You could just rent a beefy server for like $40/month at hetzner or OVH and use VS Code with the remote development extension.

1ox seems like a year's supply for an average person.

A really heavy smoker can consume up to several grams a day. Let's say 5 grams, that'd be 150g per month (5oz per month).

Agree that it's hard to argue for 200 plants being personal use; 20 would be more realistic. For 200 plants, it's a big operation! Also, you can grow them in like 3-month cycles too.

metachris··on MIT students stole $25M in seconds by exploiting ETH blockchain bug, DOJ says
This was a pretty sophisticated attack and deeply technical execution.
metachris··on Did grave robbers plunder battlefields?
I mean, there were plenty of poor people, and there's free stuff, so...

The Ethereum community still is.
metachris··on Chili Oil Notes
Kürbiskernöl (pumpkin seed oil) should be stored in the fridge, there it lasts pretty long.
metachris··on Senate Bill to Ban TikTok
Well written... sounds like a Dall-E prompt :-)
metachris··on Principles of Chaos Engineering (2019)
It's a versatile tool! Important to note though that nginx will wait for the mirrored requests to complete before it responds to the main request. you can somewhat mitigate this by setting a low mirror timeout.
metachris··on Challenging algorithms and data structures every programmer should try
They are very useful and widely used in blockchains.
metachris··on Argentina's currency exchange black markets
That's a default rpc provider to get Blockchain requests out and data in. aAnd you can change that to any rpc provider in the settings.

It also says that the patrolled areas see a population rebound of native fish species.

IDE integration is one benefit, as in VS Code showing the linting issues without compiling.

Author of the post here. Thanks for the link; added it to the post in the "Notes" section.
metachris··on The Mythology of Red Bull
Same with climbing. They have been big sponsors, of athletes, competitions and events. And been putting out really great videos.

metachris··on Crazy fast build times, or when 10 seconds starts to make you nervous (2012)
For working on complex webapps that take a bunch of steps to arrive at a certain state, hot reloading can save a ton of time, since you don't have to redo the steps to get there.

One of the bigger time-savers for web development, in my opinion.

metachris··on Signal Desktop is corrupting its database
That's certainly not the reason.

There are many really good Electron applications, Visual Studio Code being one of them.

I always end up back at bootstrap, and eventually am pretty happy with it... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Your math is off by a factor of 1000. 20 pounds is about 9kg, let's say 10 for easier math. 300 people with 10kg each is 3 tons, not 3000.
