meragrin··on Parts for stolen Hyundais and Kias are so scarce the cars are being totaled
Different numbers. One is cars stolen/population. The other is cars stolen/registered cars.

meragrin··on Russia will stop 'in a moment' if Ukraine meets terms – Kremlin
If Russia is willing to use nukes over Ukraine, what makes you think it won't end in nukes any how? There is no way Ukraine is the stopping point if they are willing to use nukes to secure Ukraine.
meragrin··on Why I will never buy another Samsung device
No, 3rd gen for bendable screens is still preview stage. I would consider 5th gen pre-production. It really won't be mainstream until 8+.
meragrin··on Tesla officially launches its insurance using ‘real-time driving behavior’
> We can argue the whole day, but this is not a tailored fee as is not build based on my personal behavior.

You can argue all day, but it doesn't change the fact your main argument was you would no longer be charged based on facts but assumptions. The current method is largely based on assumption. Using actual data on your driving is not an assumption.

It may not have been your intention but that is how you wrote it. Two statements about no longer being charged based on facts, but on assumptions. One comment linking using your actual driving data as "assumption".

meragrin··on Tesla officially launches its insurance using ‘real-time driving behavior’
> welcome to the era of tailored fees based on assumptions rather than facts. > It used to be that you'd get a high insurance fee only if you cause incidents or damage.

> There are factors such as driver experience, age

So making assumptions based on "driver experience" and age is not making assumptions?

meragrin··on Amazon, Apple and Google Cut Off Parler
So one guy is now many?
meragrin··on Amazon, Apple and Google Cut Off Parler
> many of them armed

I haven't heard of more than 5 firearms. No mention of where those were. Videos I have seen just show flags, signs, cameras, and mobile phones. What were these "many" armed with?

meragrin··on YouTube to remove content that alleges widespread election fraud
There was a post remarking about how China did not need a vaccine to get covid under control. Facebook flagged it as false information. They linked to an article which talked extensively about how China used lockdowns, contact tracing, masks, hand washing, and other things which were clearly not vaccines to get covid under control. Most of the vaccine talk was about anti-vaxxers and how Chinese weren't like that. There was a short blurb about how Chinese vaccines were still in phase 3 trials with several hundred thousand people given the vaccine. That's not going to make a big dent in California let alone China. None of the articles the "fact checking" article linked to even mentioned vaccines when talking about how China got it under control.

Aren't they claiming Assange participated in some way? Either by providing help or suggesting what to get?
meragrin··on Violence breaks out at Wistron Corp’s iPhone manufacturing plant near Bengaluru
The World HEALTH Organization? Not someone I would look to about whether destroying property is considered violence.
meragrin··on Almost one in five Americans may have been infected with Covid-19
Why would it decrease it? It seems to me it would only increase it. The people likely to get the flu are the same group likely to get covid. The flu is harder to get than covid.
meragrin··on YouTube to remove content that alleges widespread election fraud
If YouTube does as good a job as Facebook, then I have zero faith it won't just become partisan censorship. I have seen "False Information" labels on Facebook posts which were linked to "fact checking articles" which confirmed the post as true rather than false.
meragrin··on AI researcher Timnit Gebru resigns from Google
She wasn't fired. She made it clear she could not work there her demands were not met and would resign. Google accepted her resignation.
meragrin··on US Core Inflation Jumps by Most Since 1991
This "recession" was due to government shutting down the economy and not economic reasons. When things are allowed to operate "normally" again, there is bound to be a bounce back. It also probably took a bit of time for the trillions in stimulus to have an effect. The indication of trillions more in stimulus coming probably doesn't hurt either.

ESA headquarters is listed as in Paris. I'm not seeing any US bases near Paris. Orly used to be a US base but was shutdown in 1967 and is now a civilian airport.
meragrin··on Facebook Loses Top Executives, Including Chris Cox
There is really no point in switching to Facebook from Instagram and WhatsApp since Facebook is going to do it for you.
meragrin··on Democrats to push to reinstate repealed 'net neutrality' rules
I'm not sure how it is irrelevant. The Pelosi statement "fact check" is pretty bad. They misleadingly state the ACA was passed by the House in October 2009. They neglect to mention the bill the House passed in October 2009 was titled “Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009”. They continue on to falsely claim Republicans of hiding the text of the American Health Care Act bill. Their claim was the draft was not posted until June 2017. A person can easily confirm the first draft of the bill was posted in March 2017 by a quick check on archive.org. They used this false claim to "illustrate" the Republicans are the shady party. They entirely ignore the Democrats took the House bill which had nothing to do with healthcare, replaced the entire text of the bill with an unrelated topic, and did everything they could to pass it because they knew they would no longer have the votes necessary if they waited on the House to pass it first. It is clear they were going out of their way to defend Democrats and demonize Republicans.

I cannot expect any site publishing such garbage be much better with the rest of their content. I certainly cannot expect any site rating such a site as "pretty accurate" any where near unbiased.

It really is sad to see these sites to sink as low as they have. They used to be decent.

meragrin··on Why People Dislike Really Smart Leaders
>a government controlled entirely by the President's party

Not quite. They cannot easily get by a filibuster.

meragrin··on Your company can increase voter turnout: make Election Day a company holiday
> 1. Election on a Sunday. It’s not controversial, it’s bloody obvious. No one should even be able to find an argument against moving it.

Christian churches are used in my area as polling places. I would hate to know how far I would have to drive if they would no longer be used. How about Saturday?

>2. Automatic registration. Registration is just increasing the barrier to vote.

How do we "automatically" register someone? Location and age would be required. There is no system I am aware of which is automatically updated when a person moves. Requiring people to deal with state ids has already been decided as too onerous.

The Palm Beach Post posted on their blog about three ads for Mar-a-Lago. The three ads were published on July 27th and all have an address at the end with a job number to reference. The server ad at the bottom seems to be the one they are referring to.

Web browsing is more likely to get someone interested in TCP/IP than plopping the RFCs in front of them. I know I've found myself more motivated to learn more of the basics of electronics after working with an Arduino than basic crap I put together for a logic course.

People learn different ways and are motivated in different ways. I'm motivated to learn top down in electronics. Arduino is helpful to that crowd.

Then I guess everyone who has not written their own network stack and built their own networking hardware should get off the internet. After all, they are just interested in the bling and not how it works.
