Glad you noticed it. We want you to never think about controlling your music at all. This is one of the things I love too... we listen to music in a background, so controlling it should be in the background too.

That's a great point. This is why we've built an app w/o a server component, so everything happens on your machine.

hi wmw, it should work as long as you have Mac. If you are on other OS then it will ask you to leave your email address for future invite.

Are you on Mac? Can you tell us what happened?

mehuln··on Show HN: Flutter - Control Spotify or iTunes Using Gestures thru Webcam
We hated using the keyboard and mouse for controlling music in the background or watching movies on our computers from a few feet away. So we decided to solve this problem by using hand gestures to control music and videos via the built-in webcam in your computer.

Please download and try it. Do let us know what you think in your comments below or by emailing us at feedback [at] flutter.io.

Currently, it works for Mac OSX 10.6 and up.

mehuln··on How can one make most of their youth
Great top-10 list of things you can do to be ready to take ont he world by the time you graduate from college. I really like it.
mehuln··on HireArt (YC W12) Helps employers screen job applicants through work samples
I think this is a great idea. Especially because it is so easy to submit a resume, and it takes so much time to weed out good ones from the bad ones. In addition, resumes tell me nothing about how passionate a given candidate is about company/job. Passion is a big deal and someone who is passionate about company/product/position WILL jump through the hoops necessary to get in the door. A+ folks apply to great colleges and go through long applications for start-up accelerators too. Why wouldn't they do it if they are passionate about a company/job? I think onus is on company to make sure they write job posting in a way that attracts passionate candidates who are willing to go through this - and it's customizable, so you don't have to use predefined template - you can just build one for yourself and go with it.

Resumes really are bullshit, and I am glad someone's trying to solve the problem. Great idea guys - congrats!

mehuln··on Amazon Prime members buy twice as much, don't compare on price
Check out the Amazon's revenue growth curve image here: http://static.seekingalpha.com/uploads/2012/1/1128818_132745...

Now guess when Prime launched. Yes, 2005, the beginning of the hockey stick growth.

Prime has been a huge success for Amazon - more like a stroke of genius.

Thanks, Mehul

mehuln··on Steve Jobs Solved the Innovator's Dilemma
To certain extent this analysis is right, but there's also one other company that you must consider when thinking about this, and that's Google. They have also not focused on profits, and at least, in theory, have tried to create amazing products. Unfortunately, they neither have great products or great profits. You can be like Apple and focus on building great products but keep Google in mind and ask why their stock price is stagnant for last 5 years now.

Yes, Apple focuses on products but it also focuses on profits by optimizing operations and pricing products correctly. Unfortunately, at Google, they haven't done either well. They are still a search company which runs on the grace of AdWords.

Yes, Android is successful but compared to iPhone platform it is significantly behind in terms of profits - in fact, still loosing money considering Motorola acquisition was essentially to stave off patent attacks on Android.
