meeper16··on Antipersona: Use Twitter from the perspective of another account
The fact that I think this is the worst idea in the world might be the very reason this could be huge. I thought friendster, myspace and facebook enabling people with 15min of fame by displaying their personal lives on the net was the worst idea in the world.

I did think the way Google handled search was the best idea in the world, so go figure.

meeper16··on Nigerians Dominate Scrabble Tournaments Using Five-Letter Word Strategy
They might have to start donning the official scrabble championship mantle too https://espnfivethirtyeight.files.wordpress.com/2014/08/ap10...
meeper16··on “My wife has complained that OpenOffice will never print on Tuesdays” (2009)
Yet another reason I don't let OpenOffice or any Linux UIs slow me down. It's all about the command line and always will be.
meeper16··on Why Big Companies Can't Innovate
Xerox Parc innovated. It's usually based on the a high pain point the founder has with the product.
meeper16··on Linux 4.6 is out
It's actually amazing how many soft devs have no clue about the impact of the Linux, the command line, which they now call the 'CLI', true editors and fast home grown IDEs. A shift needs to take place at the core of software development. Linux made everything possible.

I can't access the invitation to the church of the subgenius in the README.txt's anymore. What's going on?
meeper16··on Ask HN: Who productively writes code on their smartphone? How?
Good thought.
meeper16··on Ask HN: Who productively writes code on their smartphone? How?
One of the big differences between software engineers and everyone else is that we type 100wpm and until we are able to do this on a phone, they remain largely useless to me unless I'm a bind and need SSH access and the command line.

On another interesting note, it seems the internet continues to be designed around people that just don't know how to type.

meeper16··on Please don’t learn to code
"Learning to code" is a lifelong endeavor. You don't pick a laptop and set aside a few hours. You can't do that if you wanted to learn how to write poetry in French while only knowing English.
meeper16··on “Facebook has destroyed the open web”
The DNA of that person relates to a time when he called the users of fb "dumb f*cks"
meeper16··on “Facebook has destroyed the open web”
I could not agree more. It started out by copying myspace which copied friendster which copied...
meeper16··on “Facebook has destroyed the open web”
Just like AOL, many facebook users think facebook is the internet.
meeper16··on [dead]
Maybe OP delivered on time.
meeper16··on Romanian hacker who claims he breached Clinton server says he spoke with FBI
Was this an actual sendmail server sitting in Clinton's house or was it an offsite server?
meeper16··on Facebook is trying to build AI algorithms that can help build AI algorithms
Facebook started out as a non-algorithmic company, AOL – geocities – friendster – myspace – Facebook – who's next? They have a lot of catch up to do compared to Google, which started as a core algorithmic company in a branch of AI called Search.
meeper16··on Ask HN: AOL – geocities – friendster – myspace – Facebook – who's next?
They all started as non-algorithmic light-weight technology platforms which were more focused on duplicating the last popular social platform. (BBS'es -> Compuserve -> AOL) This is different from companies like Google for example, that started out as algorithmic-first.
meeper16··on Geocities Forever – neural network generated geocities pages
aol -> geocities -> frienster -> myspace -> facebook -> _next_
meeper16··on Hackers are the new lawyers
How is this getting upvoted?
meeper16··on Angular 2 Style Guide

meeper16··on Ask HN: Is anybody doing something productive with IBM Watson or is it just BS?
I'm successfully using it to supply a hedge fund with a new kind of edge.
meeper16··on Telomere lengthening via gene therapy in a human individual
"... Successful Against Aging in White Cells in a Human" would be more accurate while also preserving the informative aspect. Most people don't know that Telomeres directly connect to human aging.
meeper16··on Telomere lengthening via gene therapy in a human individual
I wonder what Google's CalicoLabs http://calicolabs.com thinks about this...
meeper16··on Prince Has Died
He was truly creative. Much can be learned from him and applied to a variety of efforts.

Well said.
meeper16··on Prince Has Died
I really admired him.
meeper16··on System predicts 85% of cyber-attacks using input from human experts
Cyber attacks seem to be employing a bit of AI and data science these days.
meeper16··on New Evidence on When Bible Was Written
No need to extrapolate into religion. Most of what was happening in Israel and Babylon at that time was based on the worship of the one God of Israel vs the worship of the many gods of Babylon. Everybody worshiped one god or another and they went to war based on their worship of one god or another. Similar to today in fact.
meeper16··on Facebook is King, Other Networks Fight for Scraps
Google is King.

- Gmail 1bil users - Youtube billions - Search - Android - Self Driving cars

and the list goes on including an order of magnitude greater in revenue.

Facebook is the friendster, geocities the next AOL etc.

Google is a real technology company.
