Part of the point of unit testing is that you keep the 'unit' under test to be as small as possible so you don't have these sorts of problems and can run tests as frequently as is useful. It doesn't remove the need for other types of testing suites, but they can be isolated and run at separate times.
Q. How do you keep goats from escaping their enclosure?
A. Rinse goat meat well, rub lime juice over it (from 1/2 whole lime), place meat in a bowl, then add salt, black pepper, Scotch bonnet, thyme, allspice, curry powder, scallions, onion and garlic. Leave to marinate for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator, longer would be ideal. Heat the oil in a skillet until it is very hot, and saute the meat until golden brown. Then add the marinade, tomatoes and coconut milk, if using, and simmer for approximately 3 more minutes. Add water, reduce heat and allow to simmer for 2 to 3 hours stirring occasionally until meat is tender.
No, individual nodes have gone down based on hardware problems. The system stays up. Jespen has given Zookeeper probably the most ringing endorsement of anything it's tested, so I don't know what you're on about.
Is it ironic? Seems to me that if you want to have a distributed cluster that can deal with worker failure and still be useful, you need to rely on something to durably maintain your state at a lower level.
1. Platform support: 1Password only supports Windows and OS X. I use more than those, and want to maintain the ability to jump between platforms at will. 2. Pay twice for OS X and Windows. Seems extortionate. 3. Browser support: I want to be able to try out browsers. At the time I made this decision, 1Password actually reduced the number of browsers they support.
I used to have Ghostery, Disconnect, ABP, and some other things running simultaneously. When you think about it, that's a lot of JS running and iterating the DOM multiple times every time you load a page.
Now there's a single, purpose-built, standalone process written in C doing it. Not going back.
