I don't mind waiting an extra couple of second if with that I can avoid that google crap...
No?
Stick to Firefox!
it's what fits me better.
But GNOME,Xfce, LXQt all have their good sides :)
(and let's all just not forget about the Genode project. While not Linux, its very interesting as well)
I understand that Blink was forked from WebKit, but before that fork how much of google went into webkit? More problematic: what from google went into webkit?
i believe the community's problem with it is just that and not much what apple does with it.
The code is open and blablabla but.. does any one actually audit that huge code???
I believe that's why everyone just point Firefox as the only privacy choice (even with all it's problems).
But, then again... this is what i think personally. Someone else more techie could help more with this answer (you're just going to find out how hard it is to know who to trust ;P)
The first time I landed the page it did not show any circles. I'm on Firefox mobile (nightly, release seems OK). I had to disable Firefox defenses. After the circles appear I was able to re-enable it.
I ceased to be able to reproduce it after it loaded OK once.
Oh... And it's a great game, by the way!!! Specially because it's HTML5
Kate is awesome!!!
https://kate-editor.org/post/2022/2022-03-31-kate-ate-kwrite...
I don't know which one is better, however, Kate or Notepad++...
Opinions?
There are very stable distros (e.g.: openSUSE, Fedora, neon, Ubuntu...)
But worth nothing:
Fedora
openSUSE
Genode
ReactOS
I'm amazed!!!
It's really funny how Google services' - and now Microsoft's - just keep on failing on Firefox.
Even more amazing is that they take soo many time to fix and never before another one takes it's place.
Now... One could argue that's a result of a different rendering engine... But also funny is that it happens between chrome and edge also, sometimes...
Go figure...
And that's why I keep using Firefox...
Everytime I read something new about this subject I realize things are always worst than I though.
I really don't see why people keep using this thing...
It's really amazing!!!
Still the comic misses to mention the funny "I've got nothing to hide" argument
But then again... Google uses a lot of dirty tricks as well and the EU doesn't do much either so...
Look good however :)
I didn't know Pocket before the Firefox integration, either, but I'm really loving it.
Unlike many other sites, it does bring you news and articles you can trust (many by professional journalists).
Regarding the privacy concerns, according to what I've read at the time, it does create a kind of profile about the user, to target you with articles you seem to prefer, but that profile, unlike the competition, is not stored on the cloud... It is stored locally and never leaves your PC.
So... I'm liking it a lot!!!
Lynx
Really, any thing is better than Chromium based browsers... And Lynx is actually great! (If you like this kind of software!!!)
There is also Firefox based browsers... But I'm not sure you would like them...
Sorry
it's 18 years too late!!! XP
You want to move from the dog's mouth into the lion's mouth?!
I wonder who has the strongest bite... XP
I hope this will change with p2p matrix...
There's Falkon, AngelFish, Lynx... You should be more specific on what you need.
All in all, I would recommend you to stick with Firefox
The only thing out there is gigablast but it needs money/ hardware/resources and a better look GUI.
I had high hopes about brave... But they are not FOSS so... Nothing new there. Just for privacy I prefer DDG (even depending heavily on bing and that I would prefer it was independent - I don't like much of that meta mambo jumbo)
All in all: an independent free and open source search engine that respects user privacy.
I don't think it's too much to ask
I think it's all about Love... Every "rule" comes from this...
I believe that it all comes down to "Love". That's the key. All other "rules" are mostly human-made. Your relationship with God is just that: a relationship between you and God. And that's YOUR business and God's!
I too was raised a Catholic, but there are many places where priests are not as good as they should be.
I think I'm lucky on that, that I had a good priest for the biggest part of my life. I developed interest in finding out more and, for the most part, most lay people's common knowledge is wrong.
God does not want you locked up in a bunch of rules. God (even being apparently very absent) wants you to be happy thru Love. And that's all! (and, funny enough, the catholic church does defend that! It's just very sad they miss by a lot to put that into practice - but, then again, they are humans as well...).
