maurycy··on How to code Claude Code in 200 lines of code
Maybe not necessarily and the Claude model is fine-tuned for `claude`, so no one can really replicate the experience without unlocking some secret mode in the model. The other comments about editing files hint at this.
maurycy··on Ask HN: What is the best method for turning a scanned book as a PDF into text?
Give it a try on any PDF! This is just 100 LOC, easy to audit.

maurycy··on Ask HN: I'm writing a book about white-collar drug use, including tech sector
Source? (not nitpicking, genuinely curious)
maurycy··on Writing more legible SQL
Is there indent for SQL?
maurycy··on MacBook Pro
This is simply not true:

Apple said on Tuesday it saw a nearly 30 percent decline in its China revenue in the quarter ending September, the highest fall among all regions, due to tepid demand for its iconic iPhones.

Edward Glaeser?
maurycy··on A Man Who Beat HIV for 30 Years
Could you link to the CDC claim that 30% of the US population shows signs of exposure to spinal meningitis? I'm unable to find any references. Personally, I find this quite probable, since antibiotics are already known to reliev some back pain.
maurycy··on Cynicism and Experience
Now imagine that you have 20 years of industry experience.
maurycy··on Antibiotic Breakthrough Ends 25-Year Discovery Drought
What is the exact name for the survival mechanism you described?
maurycy··on The Move from Linux to FreeBSD
It is, hint: time value of money.
maurycy··on The laborers of content moderation on Facebook
If anything, the upside is that if we come up with better techniques for detecting unwated content we'll free these people for more productive endeavours.
maurycy··on Rock Paper Scissors Programming Competition
My first thought was Core Wars. :-)
maurycy··on Why Is Peter Thiel Pessimistic About Technological Innovation?
And badly lost. He's not even a sparring partner for Thiel.
maurycy··on A Tour of Machine Learning Algorithms
It depends on your math background, but I've found Yaser S. Abu-Mostafa's Learning From Data the best, although Christopher M. Bishop's Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning is the gold standard. ;-)
maurycy··on Language Study: What is a foreign language worth?
Not to dismiss your experience, but The Economist actually is a British journal.
maurycy··on Are Bitcoins the New Pogs? (No, really)
It could be argued that in the long term it simply does not matter:

The productivity does not depend alone on the worker.
maurycy··on Peter Norvig on Solving Every Sudoku Puzzle
I see. Indeed, the rules are so simple it's insulting.
maurycy··on Peter Norvig on Solving Every Sudoku Puzzle

maurycy··on SICP is Under Attack
Frankly, not that much.

Proof writing depends more on abstract reasoning than knowledge of arithmetics.

Of course, traditionally, it works that way. I would say, though, it's harmful a bit for the reason that the basic math curriculum is so boring, it puts off many brilliant minds.

Mandatory reference: TED Talk, Wolfram on Math Education. ;-)
