mathgladiator··on A directory of people who love RSS
Im going to be doing this again without an agenda. I am recovering from using AI to write thoughts because now I see and hear the patterns which are becoming obnoxious.
mathgladiator··on The Impending, Inescapable Deluge of A.I
I used to love claude's output with a style i crafted, but now I hear it on YouTube way too much. I am going to stop using it for my content and focus on reducing volume in favor of my own voice.
mathgladiator··on Canceling "Hey"
Yeah. I watched Seattle slide downhill, and I decided to leave.

Find needles on the beach multiple times, and you simple stop caring about reasons and want action.

Far right is a label being used for normal things like secure borders and safe cities.

mathgladiator··on Nintendo says users voluntarily paid prices, have no right to tariff refunds
No. The option is not buy Nintendo. Piracy is always wrong. Abstinence is the best protest.
mathgladiator··on Punk, or why I don't stream anymore
Want to be punk in tech? Go full blown MAGA! I am not even kidding.
mathgladiator··on Degeneracy Is a Symptom
nope, that's just me. My memory.md and instructions are wild.
mathgladiator··on Degeneracy Is a Symptom
I use claude for essays, and this felt like a claude essay. On the content, it's reasonable and I agree on diagnosis. So, here is Grok's comment: The structural math in this piece is solid—Minsky-style Ponzi dynamics at the household level, where housing and assets have decoupled from wages (US price-to-income ratios roughly doubled from the old hedge era, far worse in places like Shenzhen), make the classic productive script unreachable for median earners, driving rational lottery plays (OnlyFans, betting, crypto) or withdrawal (lying flat, NEET, no family). East Asia examples prove it's incentives over culture. But calling these responses the full story skips agency: high-discipline outliers still win by engineering the controllable variables first—fix the biology (carnivore protocol, heavy lifting, Zone 2 to restore drive and reverse metabolic softness that fuels despair), ship real value in leveraged domains like tech, make ruthless choices on location and standards, and build real assets like land instead of coping. Rentier moralizing from asset owners protects the system, but low-agency exit just hands them the win. Both rent capture and a population-level softness epidemic (crashing T, dopamine destruction, low standards) drive the symptom; fix what you control or stay trapped in the Ponzi.
mathgladiator··on Burned out, how do I get out of the rut?
For (2), at core, this is a problem of how you build your playbook for dealing with things. These diagnostic labels are not useful to others but for you to build your playbook for how to handle life. Like, I have a lot of problems making eye contact, so I make a point to do so when I'm not thinking deeply. I also have to count in my head to pretend to think about what someone said so I don't offend them because they are wrong. It also means that when I come home, I have to decompress from faking so many behaviors that I don't care for.
mathgladiator··on We Need a Way to Prove Online Personhood
My thoughts are bipolar on this. On one hand, the benefit of having a digital human license that can prove a real person that can be held accountable are immense.

The moment the government is involved, I get icky feels.

mathgladiator··on 1-Bit Pixel Art Emojis
Awesome. I recently got a play.date device, so im getting into 1 bit pixel art for a game i am building. I am using as a forcing function 5o avoid the multitudes of rabbit holes possible with games. It is so refreshing!
mathgladiator··on Most arguments are about ego, not ideas
Knowing when to stop is a key learning in wisdom.

When I reflect on it, we are in a state of hyper-individualism on every single front. Is it wrong? Well, yes and no. It is a consequence of freedom. What I ultimately see happening is that we solved evolution on a biological level. Now, it is evolution on an ideological level.

What makes me sad is that some people don't have friends that can call them out and argue in good faith. I'm a very disagreeable person, and I have a good friend group that I can argue with without any fear.

mathgladiator··on Why I Stopped Arguing with People
In career, I found infrastructure a great place to work in the sense that data wins arguments since the nemesis is physics. In product spaces, I flounder because there is no real data as products depends on people and people can massage data any way they want.

In life, I've learned "don't cast pearls before swine" as you have to understand if someone wants to learn something. I fully accept that I can be wrong, but I look at results I drive and I would like to believe others want similar results. This is far from true since some people just like complaining about problems and doing nothing about it. I don't understand this mindset, at all, but I've come to learn that I will tell what I'm doing, answer questions to the curious, and then stop there.

mathgladiator··on What Ozempic does to the gut-brain axis
Solving the underlying problem has been amazing. I wish more people could do it.

I have given up helping others since my solution was to embrace a carnivore lifestyle. But then im just in a tribal cult with amazing health.

mathgladiator··on Why are so many young people getting cancer?
There are a litany of uncontrolled experiments happening all at once. Its sad.
mathgladiator··on Why are so many young people getting cancer?
I go with n=1 science and yolo hard with only eating meat! YOLO!
mathgladiator··on Nvidia is proposing a beast of a CPU system for Windows PCs
No, but AI is a central theme and also the key way to build such a dynamic experience.
mathgladiator··on Nvidia is proposing a beast of a CPU system for Windows PCs
I think we really haven't even seen how GenAI can influence new products and games. Have you consumed Dungeon Crawler Carl?
mathgladiator··on I made a systems programming languge, looking for feedback
The strun concept is interesting but I would like more ceremony as it seems like a lot of foot gun potential.
mathgladiator··on Oura says it gets government demands for user data
Sell me things that I might want... i did buy the Gibson slack board... hrmmm
mathgladiator··on Ask HN: When did computers stop being fun?
Im changing targets. I've started to hack around with a play.date devices. It's pretty cool.

Every industry has a regression to the mean such that a normal workforce can support it. This is, good thing, but it makes the commercial side very boring (which is also a good thing).

With AI, I think makes it more permissible to do odd and unique things that see fun. Like, why not?

mathgladiator··on Psyllium husk is being touted as nature's Ozempic
I care since I have known people to go on, drop some weight, can't sustain, gain weight back and it's worse due to poorer body comp.

It's sad.

This may turn out like an opioid level challenge.

mathgladiator··on GitLab announces workforce reduction and end of their CREDIT values
I lost shame a long time ago. I am not even sure what reality is. Like, am i a computation within this meat brain? Or is the brain a two way transceiver to the real dimension and this body is just an avatar a mech that im piloting for a few years. It seems like a cosmic joke. And then think about the sheer obsurdity of sex ... yeesh
mathgladiator··on GitLab announces workforce reduction and end of their CREDIT values
I set myself up for that, and im laughing hard
mathgladiator··on GitLab announces workforce reduction and end of their CREDIT values
I love wildly beyond mild inappropriate jokes as they are a litmus test for a thinking person. The people that take things way too sensitive are a net drag and buzz kill for doing the grinding required. It goes both ways too. I love it when people are agressive with me. So, by freedom of association, cliques form and I have no problem with nepotism because the ultimate currency in life is trust.
mathgladiator··on Show HN: Building a web server in assembly to give my life (a lack of) meaning
> I mourn the death of a human artform

Well, look at this way, the needs of commerce are going to solve the conflict between practical and the beautiful. I think those of that value the beautiful aspects of coding will find new avenues of expression. For example, I'm about to get back into C programming to build a play.date game engine for an MMO.

mathgladiator··on Meta's embrace of AI is making its employees miserable
After early retirement, it took be a solid 3 years to undo the mentality of needing to work. Now, I ride my bike with my wife as we fight her MS. I show up for her and myself.
mathgladiator··on Meta's embrace of AI is making its employees miserable
I'm going to raise cattle.
mathgladiator··on Forking the Web
Something that I have tried and failed at is building a new simpler protocol just for limited games (harden back to RIP BBS). I keep finding myself going down a layout rabbit hole and getting side tracked. I may return to this if I can commit to just shipping... something.
mathgladiator··on Meta's embrace of AI is making its employees miserable
OR join meta, sell your soul, stay for 7 years, then retire and be done with work forever!!!
mathgladiator··on Permacomputing Principles
I'd be happier with more durable products!
