Spending my 20s in city, where I could walk to a bar/friend's house/restaurant/ball game, was a wonderful experience. When I talk to young people who live in some generic suburb I can't help but feel depressed. And for older folks too - the isolation is real.

Android phones need replaced much more often than iPhones, due to how slow they get and lack of updates. There is a reason the resale value of iPhones is 2-5x any Android phone.

Completely false. Look to Tokyo to see proof that supply works. No city in Canada or the US is building enough. Not even close. The hand waving of "well supply must not work because it's not working right now" (meanwhile production is still low compared to historical standards) is an unserious argument.

What this article fails to mention: prices are only crazy in certain areas (due to amenities, nightlife, etc). That has always been true, and always will be, and isn't a bad thing.

Lastly: the "zero-sum" argument of "developers and landlords" versus everyone else is wrong as well. The people really making money right now are the homeowners in areas in which supply is constrained - not "evil developers"

Low-end iPhones outperform and outlast high-end Android phones. Nobody keeps an Android longer than 3 years because it slows down and doesn't get updates. Not the case for iPhone.

The back button is a cudgel: a sign of a poorly designed UX. Apps aren't websites, the concept of "back" is not universal, so a universal button doesn't make sense. It only exists on Android because it started off as a non-touch OS.

Years and years of terrible decisions from Google (15 messaging apps, Android SDK glitches that still exist from 2010, copying Apple's features instead of leading) will only continue to let Apple dominate. There's simply no reason to choose Android - iPhone does everything better, for the same price.

There's 0 evidence of "greedlation". It takes only a minute to think why all these companies decided to collude and raise prices now and why not 5 years ago. Ten? Why now? Makes no sense. If they can do it now they would have done it years ago.

Android's continued decline in the USA won't be fixed by these "me too" developments (that are often of worse quality that Apple's offerings). There seems to be no leadership at Android at all.

I blame most of this on the rise of suburbs. There are so few places for children to hang out. Car-centric infrastructure that forces kids to sit inside results in this. Bad for adults too.

Well then I guess the other side operates on social media/etc and pushes ideas like we should give up our public spaces to homeless encampments and police aren't necessary. Or things like rent control, all of which do not work, ever.
