marshallford··on Every important person in BitCoin just got subpoenaed by NY financial regulators
The issue of bitcoins vs IRS combined with the recent news about the NSA actually scares me. Why does the Gov feel the need to control us?
marshallford··on Improving the security of your SSH private key files
I use a 4096 bit length rsa key with a 200 something bit password. Am I safe?
marshallford··on The Colors of Dribbble

marshallford··on Ghost: Just a Blogging Platform
I agree. While I think markdown is really neat, but I hate having to mess with paragraph tags when using css classes.

This makes me mad. It's that simple.
marshallford··on Meteor.sh - simply deploy meteor apps to your own server
As someone that has very little experience with databases and Node in general, I really like this. I've always wanted to play around with meteor.
marshallford··on Show HN: Checkerr - automating web developer checklist
This sounds cool, however besides the video there is no explanation of what this actually does.
marshallford··on The PNG image file format is now more popular than GIF

marshallford··on Font-face rendering solution for chrome
Wow, this is really strange. When you say jagged do you mean normally or when you zoom in on the text?
marshallford··on Font-face rendering solution for chrome
This is great for the hardcore user, but for everyone else I'd prefer to solve it for them in the css.
marshallford··on Font-face rendering solution for chrome
You may be right, it's only a temporary fix. As for other browsers I'm not sure.
marshallford··on Font-face rendering solution for chrome
I am in the same boat as you and all my fonts look fine.
marshallford··on What do you think about the launchpage of my startup?
From what I can tell, it's not responsive.
marshallford··on Google Disabling Exchange Sync for Free Accounts
Could someone please clear up my confusion as I am not very familiar with email protocols and standards. Which of the following will not work after Jan. 30th?

iOS - CardDav for contacts (2 way sync) - Exchange for email and calendar

Android - default setup, I added my gmail at setup - email, contacts, tasks, calendar... all work out of the box once you have added your gmail account.

Thunderbird (PC) - email, contacts, calendar

marshallford··on Show HN: Bookmarks.io - Full text search for your bookmarks (free trial)
I use Pinboard and it works just fine. titles, a description, and tags are good enough search wise.
marshallford··on Switching from Wordpress to Jekyll
I plan on switching over as well. I love the speed when using static files, plus there's a couple of plugins that make this a full CMS like a CSS minifier and a thumbnail plugin.
marshallford··on Never forget your password again (Hashing)
you can always bump your service name.

For example,

twitter#username facebook#username

to

twitter-username facebook-username

marshallford··on Never forget your password again (Hashing)
can you expand on that?
marshallford··on Never forget your password again (Hashing)
Different levels still doesn't work when changing your password. If twitter made me change my password, it wouldn't increase or decrease on my level of importance scale.
marshallford··on Never forget your password again (Hashing)
I don't no why you would want to use a different type of hashing. As for the changing passwords issue you could bump your sitename. For example...

site: 1twitter

site: bump-facebook

Just use a bumping method, it isn't the best... but it works. You could always change the number of characters around also.

marshallford··on Never forget your password again (Hashing)
this looks very browser focused. I like this option mainly due to the ability to force the use of a symbol, uppercase, lowercase, and numbers so you don't have to worry about password requirements.

marshallford··on Show HN: I built a dead simple, secure password manager.
