marknutter··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
> it regularly gets extremely slow if there is a lot of text in a single conversation

Now this I have definitely experienced. I chalk that up to it being an electron app, but who knows.

marknutter··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
This is basically my setup but I'm using tailscale and zellij. I don't have any contingency plan in place for my power or home internet going down though..
marknutter··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
How complex are they? Drivers vs an entire application would be a big difference in token usage, and it could also depend on the type of work being done.

Weird, ChatGPT has always worked really well for me.
marknutter··on SpaceX's Starship launching to orbit for first time ever today
Oh, it's only the second best selling electric truck on the market. What a massive failure.
marknutter··on Launch HN: Skillsync (YC W26) – AI chat sessions made portable across agents
Any word on when you'll add support for antigravity? I often switch between harnesses and models and subscriptions, both for work and personal stuff, this is an awesome idea. One thing I do that I don't think you have support for is running sessions on different machines. Do you have support for, or do you plan on adding support for, syncing across machines?
marknutter··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
Well, the kids were eating Tide Pods not too long ago, seems like Siri's not that inaccurate after all.
marknutter··on The Post-AI Internet Doesn't Look Great
It's still very early days. I have no doubt that etiquette and norms will be established that alleviate these issues.
marknutter··on Apple introduces M6 and M5 Ultra
Those played a huge part as well. Well, not so much the union busting.
marknutter··on Where did all the public bathrooms go?
> My impression was that OP was using it rather fuzzily, conflating "poor" and "bad" and "unpleasant to be around" and whatever other notions of "bottom" might be floating in the air, in the service of a general air of contempt toward Those People.

That assumption says a lot more about you that it does the person you were responding to.

marknutter··on Being ambitious and being a dad
I wonder how much that has to do with it. Sorry you've struggled with it, though, definitely not fun.
marknutter··on Apple introduces M6 and M5 Ultra for a big leap in performance and AI compute
What exactly is empty about any of what he wrote?
marknutter··on Apple introduces M6 and M5 Ultra
I wonder if doubling the workforce had anything to do with that..
marknutter··on Civic Hygiene – avoid building technologies that could be used by a police state (2013)
Whose ethics?
marknutter··on Civic Hygiene – avoid building technologies that could be used by a police state (2013)
Zero proof that any of that works to prevent police states from forming.
marknutter··on Civic Hygiene – avoid building technologies that could be used by a police state (2013)
You're not going to get far talking to political fanatics. And like you said, they very likely do not have their own houses in order.
marknutter··on Being ambitious and being a dad
Have you been diagnosed with depression at all?
marknutter··on Being ambitious and being a dad
I think that used to be the case but has dramatically shifted in the opposite direction in recent years.
marknutter··on Claude Code May–August 2026 weekly limits promotion
As a counter point, I've been using CC since December and I've never really had any problems with it. It's always done exactly what I want it to and I continue to be blown away by its capabilities, regardless of which of their models I've used. I also almost never burn through my $200/m plan.
marknutter··on Grok 4.6
Haha, well said!
marknutter··on Show HN: Open-source engine running Gemma 4 26B in 2 GB RAM on any M-series Mac
Say the word and I'll build it.
marknutter··on The arguments against open source AI are bad
Begun, the ai wars have.
marknutter··on The arguments against open source AI are bad
Better a private company in the US than an authoritarian communist country like China.
marknutter··on Can a MUD evaluate LLMs? A $99 proof of concept
I'm building this exact thing, actually. Intelligence determines which model powers a mob/npc. Getting neat results so far!
marknutter··on Can a MUD evaluate LLMs? A $99 proof of concept
I'm actually building a MUD powered in part by LLMs so this is very timely. It never occurred to me to use it to evaluate LLMs, which is a really neat idea. I'll be keeping an eye on this project.
marknutter··on John C. Dvorak has died
I loved listening to him on TWiT and other shows/podcasts. RIP, what a legend.
marknutter··on Perfection Is Not Over-Engineering
Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where he hires a contractor to work on his kitchen and ends up with twice as many cabinets as he had before.
marknutter··on $100 AI Music Video: Claude Fable 5 vs. GPT-5.6 Sol
I saw nothing wrong with the number of cuts, seems very in line with other commercials like this. I would not have been able to tell this was made by ai had I not known it going into it.
marknutter··on $100 AI Music Video: Claude Fable 5 vs. GPT-5.6 Sol
How about the full 360 head turn in the first video. Nightmare fuel.
