marilyn··on Ask HN: Your Passive Income Suggestions?
I see you've got lots of auto-posting going on social media... have these efforts proven to be worth your while? Did you build up your followings organically?
marilyn··on TEDTalks as of 06.16.11
There is another spreadsheet, I just discovered via reddit, that also includes PostRank engagement rankings:

The Dominos Pizza online ordering system has surprisingly impressive UX design.
marilyn··on Ask HN: How are lean startups easily accepting CC payments?
I have been considering FastSpring (http://www.fastspring.com), which has recently added subscription payments as a feature. I'm interested to hear about anyones experiences with them.
marilyn··on How do you deal with multiple Gmail accounts?
I have several email accounts for different domains set up with google apps. One is the primary one that I am always logged into, and the others I have set up as an account I can send mail from (Settings, Accounts, Add another email address you own) in the primary account. In addition, I set up a filters for each of the email addresses that label the incoming mail according to what address it was sent to, so I can easily identify which of my identities is getting the email.
marilyn··on Poll: Why are you building a web app? (Research for my book)
Both to scratch an itch, and the hope for financial gain.
marilyn··on 47% of the world’s wealthy people are entrepreneurs
You must consider too that many entrepreneurs start several businesses through out the course of their lives. For each attempt, an entrepreneur would increase his/her chances at attaining wealth by 5%, no?

marilyn··on Ask HN: Keep Going?
Sounds like your should stick with your start up. Fix the problem instead of giving up. The problem being, from what I read, you are dissatisfied with your current level of social interaction.

Establish a routine in which you regularly interact with people. Consider taking 5-10 hours of your week (or whatever works for you, and devote it to something unrelated to your startup. A part time job in a social place, like a cafe, or perhaps volunteer for a cause that matters to you. Check out classes in your community that you might enjoy. Maybe a martial art, or other physical activity to get two birds with one stone.

If you want to find more like-mind people, look for entrepreneur's and small business networking events and meets ups. You don't have to be in the valley to find people that are working on making a successful business.

Best of luck to you!

marilyn··on Compared to you, most people seem dumb
My grandma declared a few years ago that she would have nothing to do with computers, as she did not want to get sick from those widely rampent computer viruses!

The lesson? ???

marilyn··on Resignation letter from Microsoft Employee
I always appreciate the efforts of HN'ers who post a TL;DR summary. It's less about taking the easy way out, and more about saving time.
marilyn··on New book Kevin Kelly: What Technology Wants
Kevin Kelly's TED talk is well worth watching: http://www.ted.com/talks/kevin_kelly_tells_technology_s_epic...
marilyn··on Ask HN: Payment Gateways?
Is there some public info on FastSpring's beta subscription service? All I can find is: http://www.fastspring.com/faq.php#twentyone

I am currently debating between FastSpring and rolling out my own PayPal based payment processing for a e-product site. If FastSpring will meet my future subscription needs, my choice would be easy to make!

marilyn··on The race to buy up the world's water
Any bloggers who have something to say about this, this year's Blog Action Day (http://blogactionday.change.org/) topic is water.
marilyn··on My zero-equity co-founders
Given cperciva current situation, I expect he could grow his company just as well by hiring a sales or marketing professional, perhaps even on a part-time contract basis, and he wouldn't have to give up any control or equity.
marilyn··on Women Don't Want To Run Startups Because They'd Rather Have Children
List Central was the first go at it. The second go is in stealth. It definitely has a price!
marilyn··on Women Don't Want To Run Startups Because They'd Rather Have Children
I'm a pre-traction bootstrapping lady. Pleasure to meet you.
marilyn··on Ask HN: Is there a startup that allows me to charge without a merchant account?
Maybe check out FastSpring: http://www.fastspring.com/
marilyn··on Ask HN: Many quality articles don't go to the front page. What is the problem?
I believe a flip side to this is that stories are staying on the front page longer. Not too long ago I recall that each day I opened HN for the first time, every story on the front page was brand new to me. Recently stories seem to stay on the front page for 2-3 days sometimes.
marilyn··on 102 year old lens attached to digital camera
While it's not the same, there are several how to's for using a Holga lens with a DSLR (like http://www.howcast.com/videos/217390-How-To-Make-Your-Holga-...). Extrapolating from these would certainly help get you at least part way there.
marilyn··on Google Maps visualization of marijuana prices, with over 800+ entries so far
Specially if heated the microwave. Stinks!
marilyn··on Ask HN: Is Perl dead?
The Perl jobs mailing list frequently has a dozen or more jobs internationally a week. I'd say no, Perl is far from dead, despite it not having the sexy factor it once did.
marilyn··on "Uh-oh. I didn't know conversation had rules."
When they remember your name 3 weeks later, how do you feel?
marilyn··on Show HN: HackerNewsers, com, find other hackers near you
I love it.

One suggestion: When you click on a pagination button on a Find Hacker News Users listings page, the page should either reload, or scroll to the top. The way it is now, it feels like it isn't answering my request for the next page.

Great work!
