malmsteen··on Ask HN: What’s your “Everyone has a price” experience?
Well the whole point was that if u have a problem with what ur friend is doing u should probably have a problem with ur government as a whole probably. Which is prpbably very tiring.
malmsteen··on Ask HN: What’s your “Everyone has a price” experience?
>> weapons manufacturer that sells to the regime in Saudi Arabia.

Thats a really long term for "government"

malmsteen··on The software engineer’s guide to asserting dominance in the workplace
In life u just need to "fit", or get picked on.

Incidentally this is precisely the "natural law" that james damore broke when he bragged about how natural laws are supposed make genders different in the workplace.

He was fired for breaking the most important law "you must fit/adapt or get excluded" while pretending to know better how life and biology works lol. What a retard

malmsteen··on The software engineer’s guide to asserting dominance in the workplace
Edit: ok this was too much
malmsteen··on The EU's bizarre war on memes is totally unwinnable
But who is at the source of such a law ? I mean who's interest does it serve ? Who had the idea.

Because afaik movie and music creators are already winning the piracy war right ?

it's every PERSON's job yeah. not companies.

malmsteen··on Facebook confirms that it tracks mouse movements
>> I guess mouse movements are a very good way to identify people across websites.

I absolutely not believe that. for real. this is something i keep reading but a seriously not see how mouse movement can be unique from one person to another. it's not a fingerprint come on.

> It's also an efficient way to distinguish people from machines.

well that i can believe, but not more

malmsteen··on Things I Learned in the Gulag
> I am an atheist and don't need religion to tell me it is wrong to kill another man, or so I've always believed.

nah it's not the point / goal of religion here it has nothing to do here with killing someone else or not. It's the fact of believing in "something else" outside of this world which gives you a reason to stay human (in a way that can include but not limited to 'not killing someone'). Basically if there's only "here and now" there's no point to be a good person or keep your animal instincts leashed. if there's "something else outside or after" there's a "superstitious" point to self-preserve your humanity ('for later')...

malmsteen··on Facebook confirms that it tracks mouse movements
yeah it's not like your mouse movements is a serious privacy issue

malmsteen··on The human cost of the Kindle
It's just not a company's job to care about morality, only to optimise to maximise gain. It's the law's job.

Saying this is not taking sides or being "cynical" or "capitalistic". The point is if you want change you have to FIGHT to change laws and make them be enforced (through lawsuits / unions). It's always a power struggle and you'll stay on the weak side if you keep screaming "morality" at corporate entities and rely on their good will to enforce workers right... Saying otherwise is deluding other people and/or yourself of reality, but i guess it feels good to feel on "the right side" without actually doing anything.

malmsteen··on The Mexican art of double entendre
Yeah its true indeed for cats. Weird cause i cause i could see a girl say that also to actually say shes full.

Nevermind fun anecdote anyway

>> (Je sui pleine) and all conversation at the table came to a dead halt as this is a very vulgar expression for pregnancy along the lines of "I'm knocked up." Then they realized it was a weird Americanism and moved on.

Last time i checked in the us universities there was no grant from me and many grants for people having a different "specificity" than me (woman / black / native / disabled...)
malmsteen··on What tech calls “AI” isn’t really AI
Totally agree. In fact i think we need to intebtionally call some stuff ai. Watson was an ai.

malmsteen··on 16 year old app developer: Plagiarist or Prodigy?
That post looks so immature.. who the f* cares who created an app at the end of the day ?

If you think it's the fact that she's young that made the app famous, then create a false young persona and the same with your own app instead. Only stupid people would care about who built it instead of the actual quality of the app.

I've lost time even reading even the title of this post.

In addition to my first comment... : The western-like environment is also the direct consequence of the "no regulation" aspect that crypto fans like so much. When there start being regulation everyone will leave the space precisely because there's not the hope anymore of making quick fast money...
malmsteen··on “Pump-and-Dump” schemes in Telegram groups drive penny crypto coin prices up
Yeah but you're not seriously saying that the killer app that everybody is waiting for in crypto is " being useful for criminals ". If so it will be banned everywhere soon like in China and blockchain is just dead.
malmsteen··on “Pump-and-Dump” schemes in Telegram groups drive penny crypto coin prices up
Exactly, most people have done so for centuries. Of course with 99% reliability only, but no one cares about the 1% possibly added by blockchain (with a retarded additional computing burden to deal witg).
