mallory854··on Any Human Ever – One life, drawn at random from all who have ever lived
This is awesome. I love seeing how humans have evolved into what we are today.
mallory854··on Archive of Animal Photography Reveals 18,000 Species and Counting
This is my favorite type of news! Animals are the absolute best and I love learning about new ones we've discovered.
mallory854··on France to ban unsolicited telemarketing calls
Let's bring this across the pond. I've taken to speaking different languages and just trying to confuse them. If you're going to call me fifty times a day, you're going to get messed with.
mallory854··on England set to be one of the first countries to eliminate hepatitis C
This is great news. Healthcare is such an asset in our pockets.
mallory854··on Mars dust is toxic. How will future astronauts deal with it?
Since the gravity is so different on Mars, I assume eventually born-Martians will evolve differently from earthlings. They'll be taller and thinner and require less oxygen. One day, when earthlings and Martians mate, there's going to be a new species. How cool is that?
mallory854··on Mars dust is toxic. How will future astronauts deal with it?
Fascinating. I first heard of this terraform idea a few years ago. Question - how do we get the ice to melt enough to have something similar to oceans?
mallory854··on Elevators
Super interesting. I've always wondered how exactly they work.
mallory854··on Elevators
This is super interesting. I've always wondered how the complicated things work!
mallory854··on My new obsession: A horse-racing board game of pure luck
Is there a link to a really nice one to put on display somewhere?
mallory854··on Declassified CIA Cartography Maps from the 1980s
I'll never get tired of maps! There's so much to learn.
mallory854··on Show HN: Gpu.fund, live GPU cloud rental prices
Useful tool. The "six tabs to answer one question" problem is real.

One thing I'd love to see added: historical price trends by GPU type. Spot prices fluctuate enough that knowing whether today's H100 price is high or low relative to the last 30 days would help a lot with timing decisions.

For teams trying to attribute inference costs to specific workloads or customers, having a reliable price reference point is more useful than it sounds.
