magxnta··on Meta's Mark Zuckerberg explores purchase of Washington DC property
I don’t think Meta is a monopoly as they aren’t charging for anything and there are plenty of alternatives.
magxnta··on DeepSeek releases Janus Pro, a text-to-image generator [pdf]
Not just a problem with chinese models. Try asking western models about reverse engineering malware and they will all decline, because the malware is copyrighted! Hah.
magxnta··on Meta announces 5% cuts in preparation for 'intense year'
Oh, he is cutting the „low performers“. I’m glad that he isn’t kicking the guy who wasted BILLIONS on the metaverse though. :)
magxnta··on Olympians turn to OnlyFans to fund dreams due to 'broken' finance system (2024)
I represented my country in cycle ball as well. The thing is that nobody is really interested in that, similar to how nobody is interested in people throwing discs as far as possible. Just because you represent a country, it’s not necessarily interesting and people don’t have to get paid for it.
magxnta··on RCE Vulnerability in QBittorrent
I found the deluge (web?) ui becoming unusable after adding tens (or hundreds?) of thousands of torrents.

Not sure about the details, but a decade ago I used to seed all files below 100MB on many private trackers for seed bonus points, and yea, deluge ui (might have been the web ui, not sure) became very slow. :D

> In October 2017, subsequent reports alleged that hackers working for the Russian government stole confidential data from the home computer of a National Security Agency (NSA) contractor in 2015 via Kaspersky antivirus software. Kaspersky denied the allegations, stating that the software had detected Equation Group malware samples which it uploaded to its servers for analysis in its normal course of operation.

magxnta··on Mira Murati leaves OpenAI
If you have a sandwich and cut it in half, do you have one or two sandwiches?
magxnta··on iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
Just recently replaced my XS Max battery. Great phone! :)
magxnta··on Fake job interviews are securities fraud
The "everything is securities fraud"-theory honestly deserves a Wikipedia article by now.
magxnta··on Reverse-engineering my speakers' API to get reasonable volume control
I have this issue with my Echo next to my bed. Even on vol 1 it’s too loud for me.

So, instead of using the Spotify alexa skill, I have to use my phone and connect it via bluetooth, so I can turn down the volume on my phone in addition to using the quietest volume on the Echo.
