m4r35n357··on CLUI: Building a Graphical Command Line
It isn't a command line "interface", it is a command line "interpreter". If you don't know this you have lost at the start. I'll stick to my shell, thanks!

  $ man dash | wc -w

If you are running scripts most of the time bash is overkill (batch files don't need things like command completion, history and all that interactive stuff). Don't believe me?

  $ ls -lAh `which bash`
  -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1.1M Jun  6  2019 /bin/bash

The answer is yes. Now what is the question?

BTW article paywalled; - DR.

m4r35n357··on Thinking Journeys rather than Estimates
Serious question, what is the difference between software development and alchemy?

Expecting a cobbled together mess to do accurate arithmetic. There's your problem.
m4r35n357··on Introduction to Clifford Algebra (2006)
Looks really impressive. For those interested in this sort of thing, another huge and varied collection of mathematical/physics articles is located at https://www.mathpages.com/
m4r35n357··on Introduction to Clifford Algebra (2006)
I never got the hang of direction of cross products, still don't know which hand rules to use for eg motors & generators (well I think I knew once but as never at ease).

This looks like what I wished I had learned instead!

m4r35n357··on “We Don't Need a Project Manager”
You keep using that word "communist" . . . etc.

So the check for Erlang magic numbers ended up being passed before the _existing_ checks for other file types? Nice bit of pushing in, there. Still, it was accepted by the "file" devs . . . .
m4r35n357··on America Is Overrun with Bathrooms
Because they are too squeamish to ask for a toilet !
m4r35n357··on Gravity: We might have been getting it wrong
Just because quantum physicists can't get their act together over gravitation doesn't make General Relativity wrong!

When the lay person reads headlines like this, they assume you are talking about Einstein's theory.

m4r35n357··on Actix project postmortem
The Linux kernel has no central repository, they use email & stuff. I believe that is what the author of Git intended.
m4r35n357··on Actix project postmortem
I don't get it. This is a Git project. So did none of these people actually bother to clone it?

Probably easier to just rely on binaries . . . suckers!

m4r35n357··on Christopher Tolkien has died
It only really starts kicking off at "the unchaining of Melkor". From then on the mayhem builds fairly steadily.
m4r35n357··on Christopher Tolkien has died
LotR is a book about hobbits. They start off protected by the rangers, grow and learn throughout the book, and finally use their experiences to liberate their homeland from Saruman.

So, one of the main points (the main point?) is missed, as well as Saruman's proper death.

m4r35n357··on Christopher Tolkien has died
murdering an ambassador is a little beyond "falling a bit flat"

especially considering there were no elves there at all!
m4r35n357··on Christopher Tolkien has died
The films are not bad for visuals and casting/acting, but changed the story and characters and motivations far too much for fans of the books. And left out the actual ending!
