Would definitely work with kids. if there were a bunch of 10yo kids there would definitely be an underground kids mischief network.

A friend of mine owns a restaurant that is pretty remote so lower business. He told me he doesn't take credit cards because he would be paying them a percentage for everything.
It is kind of like the mafia to a small guy like him.
I think he does do a few phone apps.
A waitress at another cash-only restaurant told me, worse than customers who hear they won't take credit cards are the apple pay folks. "They really get annoyed when they don't get their apple pay"
Franchises don't care. They can raise prices monthly or even dynamic price if they want to.
Kind of sucks for society because lots of the best/greatest restaurants are not franchises.
sort of like tahoe timeshares near heavenly for periods when there is no snow.
What have they really created since steve jobs?
what about caching? or are there good techniques to make sure a benchmark is immune somehow?
Your post reminds me of:
> I have been known to remodel train stations on my lunch breaks, making them more efficient in the area of heat retention.
:)
On the other hand, if you're reaching out to someone to make a connection and offer friendship, I think it is ok. A lot of people become famous, but isolated, and bringing them into YOUR circle with a picture is kind of nice.

Sorry, even after reading about SpaceXSI I don't pattern match the acronym.
People are not silently replaced by others, who gradually change to monetize your relationship.
(ok, this may not apply to teenagers)
I remember reading that Sunnyvale CA was the safest city in the US!
I looked at wikipedia, and they say that too.
> Sunnyvale has consistently ranked as one of the safest ten cities (for cities of similar size) in the United States according to the FBI's crime reports.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunnyvale,_California#Crime
also: "According to Sunnyvale's Department of Public Safety, confirmed gang members make up less than one percent of the population"
With the qualifiers, is it actually safe there? :)
They were discussing how tesla manages problems with full-self-driving.
It was interesting how this realm of problems was viewed.
If there was an accident while the car was driving itself due to some glitch, the police at the scene put all the blame on the driver.
The book had a different viewpoint. obviously there was a tesla bug in full self driving, and they kept their mouth shut.
meanwhile society/government doesn't even think of this and puts responsibility/blame on the user.
Even with the inflated prices nowadays 3tb 3.5" sata drives are cheaper than 2.5tb LTO-6 tapes.
Personally I don't trust optical. I had some DVD-RW drives and many of them became unreadable after a very short time.
(I don't know what the absolute vs practicate reliability factors are for any of these)

I don't know how honeywell of all companies is selling this, but I figure they have engineers that they turned loose on and got out of their way.
It is just super nice. Elegant looking, not expensive, very high quality illumination that can get bright, smoothly dimmable with a knob. a knob to adjust lighting is a good design.
In comparison, dyson makes a lamp that is the same kind of interesting genre, but they cost 10-20x.
[1] except to turn it off is inelegant - you have to press and hold instead of tap, because tap changes color temperature.

this is fine for people just bumbling around town
I'm reminded of the tesla semi graph (near bottom of article):
https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/4740/tesla-unveils-next-ge...
US diesel: $0.50 and $0.80 per mile
US electric: $0.20 and $0.25 per mile
I keep thinking about privacy and wonder -- this is the kind of thing like the declaration of independence, where a new government was formed when things got so bad. But then I think, business and (local) government wanted independence from the king's taxation and unfavorable business conditions, maybe that was the force behind the change.
businesses can already lock down your mac so you can't use it inappropriately.
I'm reminded of the guy who ran afoul of google, and all of a sudden all his google devices got forced software updates and started doing things.
it is sad, really.

of the 693 processes running on my macos machine, I hand picked a bunch (60+) that I think are nonsense, and would probably make my machine run faster and more privately without:
