It's not definitely a sign that I'm actually interested in greeting you, or asking about your migraine.
Just something like "how do you do" which is a total nonsense either, so this discussion is moot.

Using : would be too much here. For anything else including json etc. I usually go to duckdb. Awesome support, single file install, readable, easy to maintain.
Powershell on Linux or Unix? Just another huge dependency if you manage 1000s of machines, and good luck finding a Linux gal/guy wanting or able to touch pwsh without chemical grade gloves.
Back to AC... I have to fork out 4000€ to replace an aging AC in a small flat 60sqm (650 sq feet).
Just looking out of my window right now I can see 600 similar places, so that's 2.4mil EUR for a couple of (city) blocks.
As AC is to be added as it won't replace the winter central heating system we got in most condos -- well that's a lot of money.
I see, either everything one here goes to preppy schools, in a perfect Montessori world, vs others working three jobs to pay mortgage and 2 cars.
And the solution is apple watch.
What's gonna happen if I were to begin or continue using one letsencrypt certificate from ... Greenland? Cuba? The EU?
Has letsencrypt been served with a subpoena?
Personally, lots of ETL can just be taken care of locally without involving enterprise databases. In such cases, DuckDB is 5x-10x better than SQLite and orders of magnitude simpler/faster than spinning up a dedicated Postgres database.
For general scripting, there's no match between a 20-lines awk script and a much cleaner, robust, maintainable equivalent SQL script based on DuckDB.
I just hope MotherDuck don't need to pump/dump for IPO - it would be sad losing that tool for the usual corporate greed.
Meh.
Govt surveillance? I'm much more worried by the ever increasing number of cameras in the streets rather than something similar to having a passport to prove who you really are.
Take the attitude to selling your data at state, country level "just because".
If US citizens love being scr@@d over good for them....
About generating things well... it just copypastes the same snippets you could find on stackoverflow, including bugs - if the task you throw at it has already been answered.
For complete and complex code... well it spews out the same useless advice you could get from a drunk non expert person while sitting at the bar.
Issue is... LLMs are too big to fail, everyone just poured billions in this huge statistics bean counter, and... someone has to justify those expenses at board meetings.
Site is flagged as it hosts pedop. material.
Been there, tried to, got a huge slap in the face.
Time to ask an AI ?
A proud cygwin user myself, with cygwin in the PATH since the 2000s, I recently sideloaded Ubuntu under wsl.
Right now, wsl is my primary terminal app, I've mounted C:\ as /c, added a symlink to bypass the ugly Onedrive default name, and... I'm happy.
Slowly, I removed 90% of the mixed BAT scripts, converted to bash the rest, and I now enjoy it.
As the old timer that I am, I limp around powershell, so no luck with that.
Cygwin on the other hand seems to be slowly dying, as more and more packages are now unsupported/unmaintained, with Redhat apparently willing to smother it at the first viable moment.
Any thought?
That's called freedom my friends.
Boss of guy from Minnesota was kicked out of the company. I'm told the guy from Minnesota is now sooooo much nicer now.
When will everyone believe that making someone take the blame in exchange for a shorter time in jail is beneficial to society at large... when the real perpetrator walks away unscathed, and a innocent is jailed for something he didn't even commit?
The guy didn't, and no one stopped him from collecting the very same data he could be using or will use to blackmail or worse.
Sorry to note that political allegiance beats common sense.
While everyone worries about such minor trivia, the Chief is replacing a host of public servants with his own cronies, all in the name of DOGE. For those familiar with medieval history, that's exactly what every tyrant/lord/baron/... did to get rid of any enemies, and ensure his own son would rule after his death.
Also, I guess a significant part of public spending will be redirected to the oligarchs that attended his crowning ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H nomination. That could be a problem with those on a minimum wage, or already working two jobs, but hey, isn't everyone in the US a millionaire?
