I could tell after first two paragraphs, that the author did not spend more than 15 minutes on the site itself and most of her "facts" come from lazily googled trivia.
I spent more time, than I'd like to admit on this and similiar imageboards. I still visit it semi-regulary (only fitness board nowadays), but this description as place where only edgy teenagers go to bully other people is plain wrong and misdirecting. Will you be judging Reddit next, solely by /r/politics, or /r/The_Donald, which both are terrible communities? Because that's what you did, with mentioning only /b/ and /pol/ as the core of 4chan.
My advice for the author: LURK MOAR :)
- Sleep well. If it's possible, you should never have to use alarm clock for waking up for school, or work, instead you should wake up naturally (because you went to sleep early enough).
- Dumb down your phone [1]. I recently purged all time-sinking apps from my phone, including the "supposedly useful" ones, like Hacker News, or local newspapers. You will feel way better, without the endless overwhelming flood of information coming at you everywhere you go.
- Eat clean and drink only water. Trick that works best for me, is that I do all my shopping on Monday and I plan every breakfast and dinner for the whole week in advance, so when I have cravings, there is simply nothing in my kitchen I can binge on (I realize this solution does not work for everyone, especially if you are not living alone). Of course, I still buy ice cream or some other sweet after lunch ~ once a week, or go for couple of beers with my friends time to time, but it feels a lot better, when it is really a treat and not ordinary, everyday thing.
Just a technical note, I believe this is not true. AFAIK only janitors are recruited from users, the moderators (those with real power) were all personal friends of m00t (at least not so long ago). Maybe it changed since hiroyuki took over, but I have not read anything about it.

This a video from the author with some commentary.
Finally, in this specific case the use of emojis is so over the top it distracts me from the actual content.
I'm generally all for fun, but this feels like insulting the reader's intelligence to me.
I have had some of the best thought-provoking discussion about politics or life in general on anonymous imageboards.
BTW. Small Central European country => fellow Slovak? :)
