Eh, no, alcoholism lead to farming.

If you need the booze, you need the bees, if you need the bees, you need to stay for the summer. If you want a year round supply you need storage, if you have storage that is not transportable, you have settled.

If you cultivate plants, you can up the numbers and found city states- but for that you allready have to be half way settled. Else that nomadic sheep guy from across the fence will drive his cattle through your fields.

The downvoting behaviour so predictable. The irony of a controlling agent, hating the idea of beeing controllable.

We are programmers and architects - do not bend the rules, we made them, your bending suggests flaws and imperfection and is offending.

Trains shall run on tracks. Spontanious agents are a loss of controll. The horror.

Yes, what a wonderfull example of corpoorate paranoia. They are out there- the enemy, the other tribesman and there psychopaths- out to get me, my fortress, my product for cheap- but i will show it to them, i shall leave no mark upon this world, for which i shall be remembered.

lunchTime42··on Bushido: Way of Total Bullshit
Medieval War Principals meet modern weapons. People charged in with horses and protective amuletts at verdun. But where butchering a village was hard work in medieval times, modern weapons make it the flick of a switch. Add to that a culture where non-fullfillment of expectations is a huge shame and extererior pressure upholds all the norms, and you get japans behaviour during the ww2.
lunchTime42··on Spoiled Rotten (2012)
The problem is that actually its not the parents spoiling there kids, its that a whole industry is using them as lever to sell goods and undermines parental authority systematically. You can not win against george lucas, without looking like you are on the dark side.

They are so much more enthusiastic consumers, it would be a real shame if those know-it-all parents could hold them back.

lunchTime42··on Teaching machines to anticipate human interactions using videos of TV shows
Neural Network seem to go where the data is. The data (scripts) to TV-Shows are ready available. Real conversations are not (Youtube-Subtitle, anyone?). Shirking hard problems today might help , to train a generation that can understand dialects and muffled voices from context tomorrow.
lunchTime42··on Hyperinflation in America: The End of Grades?
True free market approach would be to have two variants of running buisnesses run against one another.
lunchTime42··on Hyperinflation in America: The End of Grades?
Its never free enough. And if it where, it was the customers fault. And if the customers behaved flawless and it would not work. There would be traitors, sabbotaging a perfect system. In a closed worldview critque acceptance is not even possible anymore. Anything brought up is not evaluated but instantly deflected. There is no - "Lets measure this" and compare (Lets call it the free market approach to ideas ;) just offense and defense. Thanks for proving the Pa-OP right.
