lrx··on Vasovagal: Markdown-Based 2nd Brain
Harrison said it was cool and then he shared this with Hacker News. But here's the prompt I used to bang this out:

Let's make a cool landing page for the vasovagal github org, summarize the second brain/para tooling from @vagus/ and @corti/ (pull the latest main on
both of them, make sure you reference their latest versions, and encourage users to download via the tap).

    Things to highlight:
    * No running daemon for vagus
    * Synchronize with Apple's iCloud auto sync (supports multiple computers with a quick vagus reindex --since=7d)
    * Corti is easy to start, authomatically identifies whatever app is using the mic and tags it accordinging
    * Corti streams writes to the vagus inbox
    * Corti also has a live transcript

The sister project ~/code/claria/claria has a cool screenshots system. Adopt that in corti so we can render the frontend to screenshots and copy them in
to the website copy. For now I'm fine if building the vasovagal.github.io is done manually from time to time.

Make sure the site is distinct from the other sister project, ~/code/dekopon . I don't want two pages that look the same. Go hacker, black and green,
ascii art, edgy for vasovagal. Maybe adopt a cybernetic spinal cord metaphor.

highlight the vagus rag pipeline, maybe run some benchmarks against my corpus (state how big my raw brain is, how big my various indexes are, and assess
the "quality" of the search results.

also, highlight how vagus can install skills for pi and claude.

you are free to make the vasovagal.github.io page and get everything going for me.

I think you can use quickwit with a self-hosted S3-compatible object store.

False. Not bad enough to discourage a potential $100B semiconductor factory.
lrx··on Ignore the haters, and other lessons learned from creating JSON5
An apology is powerful leadership. The resolution I've seen, slinking away as if it never happened, is pure cowardice.
lrx··on COVIDtests.gov is receiving 10x the traffic of any other US government site
The USPS website was surprisingly snappy and simple. Anyone know how the gov managed to not screw it up like the obamacare site? Perhaps the United State Digital Service helped?

I think that would be packet.net but they're acquired and who knows how much investment they put in the product now.
lrx··on Chrome breaks my website by hiding www in address bar
Chrome shouldn't make big changes to requests. Changing the host is unacceptable.

And no, asking someone to run a $1 server to get around it is not sufficient either. Why would you think a PaaS app would need a dedicated DNS server? Defeats the purpose.

Scientist, Inc | https://scientist.com | Remote / Solana Beach, CA | Full Time | Onsite or Remote | $80k-$130k

We're looking for a designer, implementer with strong enterprise software design skills. We have a beautiful, useful product and we want to keep up that momentum and growth. This is a product-focused role on our research exchange platform.

The candidate should have good skills with the design software of their choice, ability to learn user workflows, and help optimize the look and feel. We also use SASS/HAML/ERB on a modern Rails application (but you don't need Rails experience, we are happy to train up and support).

Scientist has been remote for over 10 years and we're happy to consider candidates +/-4 hours from San Diego.

Scientist | Software Engineer & Data Scientist | San Diego | Full-time | REMOTE | https://scientist.com

What we do: Scientist.com is a growing services marketplace which helps Scientists the world-over find, initiate, and track service requests. We're at many of the largest pharmaceutical and biotech institutions in the world. We enable the outsourced workflows which increase efficiencies and facilitate compliance. And we're growing.

What you would do: The web application is in great shape but we need to answer more business questions. We want to provide data and tools to our finance and business analysts based on events from the application. The first big project would be maintaining an ETL pipeline for loading data in to AWS Redshift and supporting our internal customers with Quicksight or Tableau.

You would be collaborating with experienced application owners who know the datas ins and outs, you would not be learning the system in a vacuum. That won't be the end of it, we'd also like to support more developer friendly tools like Jupyter.

You'd also be supporting the Kubernetes cluster, helping to track system health, improving our CI/CD system, internal metrics and logging, performing cluster upgrades, and doing a variety of security ops. I think this part is more minor but any experience with operating Kubernetes is desired. If you like Rust, this also a great job for you, I'd love to have utilities or even small webapps written in Rust.
