If anyone here uses the Nanit app in the background of their phones, it absolutely destroys battery life.

I got a new phone because I thought my battery was cooked, but turns out it was just the app.

One of the most helpful usages of CC so far is when I simply ask:

"Are there any bugs in the current diff"

It analyzes the changes very thoroughly, often finds very subtle bugs that would cost hours of time/deployments down the line, and points out a bunch of things to think through for correctness.

Can you please elaborate here?
lpa22··on How Tesla is proving doubters right on why its robotaxi service cannot scale
In your world view, what would you personally do if you start one, or multiple, incredibly successful companies and amass $ billion(s) of equity in the process?
lpa22··on Nobody knows how to build with AI yet
This is exactly what makes me excited as well. It really does replace the tedious parts of coding I’ve done thousands of times at this point.
lpa22··on My Family and the Flood
This was possibly the saddest piece I’ve ever read based on how it was written
lpa22··on Show HN: Lego Island Playable in the Browser
this is one of those games that lives in my head. the quirky narrator and the personalities of all the characters felt really unique at the time.

seeing stuff like this, and backyard baseball, again in browser or modern apps just doesn't hit the same though

lpa22··on AI is ushering in a “tiny team” era
AWS, GCP and other cloud providers play just as large of a role in allowing for tiny teams. Used to need an ops team of 10+ people to do all the stuff on premise that AWS can do

Alcohol is significantly more harmful and dangerous to the body than weed. If anything, this is incredible progress and a much longer way to go.
lpa22··on Trump wins presidency for second time
Not sure who is downvoting this, it’s the truth and the exact reason dems lost
lpa22··on Trump wins presidency for second time
That goes both ways. In fact, there might be more Red voters who think their vote is futile and don’t do out to vote.
lpa22··on Billionaires building bunkers buying islands– prep for apocalypse or feudalism?
What constitutes a muscle-wasting event?
lpa22··on On Alcohol
I have substituted liquid sativa weed drinks for alcohol. I am still able to have a “drink” in social settings.

I am convinced it is the future of partying for those still looking for the positives of alcohol, without as many of the harmful effects.

lpa22··on Improving deep sleep may prevent dementia, study finds
It took me far too long to realize caffeine was the cause of my restless sleep issues. Even just 80mg at 10am. I thought it was stress. There’s definitely millions of other people that don’t realize caffeine is killing them slowly due to lack of good sleep, and just continue the cycle.

“Stuck with 120Mbps down” made me spit out my drink
lpa22··on Adult-use cannabis delivers $15B in tax revenues
I completely agree. Weed has replaced almost my entire alcohol consumption which was a lot. The “unsober” feeling is key here
lpa22··on Were React hooks a mistake?
“They don’t scale”

They scale great. Decorators are incredibly underrated for code reuse.

lpa22··on Were React hooks a mistake?
I still exclusively use class components to this day. They are incredibly easy to reason about and solve every problem I’ve had.

Hooks from the start seemed like a functional mess, everytime I see it I also feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

lpa22··on Flutter desktop isn’t there yet
i am greatful for Flutter if only to motivate the React Native team
lpa22··on The Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan was the early epicenter of Covid-19
This is true. I was under the impression that the lab leak was confirmed.
lpa22··on FDA to order Juul e-cigarettes off U.S. market
It blows my mind that they shot themselves in the foot by marketing to kids.

They never needed to do that. Kids would've gotten their hands on them just the same.

Kids have been smoking cigarettes in school bathrooms since the beginning of time. JUUL was just incredibly incompetent in contrast with the high quality of their product.

lpa22··on My take on Elon's offer for Twitter
I actually like the way it’s threaded - it allows you to discuss individual points in the essay instead of everyone talking about the entire contents at the same time. I do think they should have a collapse option to read it as one, but still allow you to reply to the individual thoughts
