As a woman who’s been extremely successfully poly for almost a decade, I feel like I fight against the grain whenever I am able to explain how well it works for myself and the other women I’m with…with various relationship styles in there.
It’s sad how skeptical and dismissive folks are, and how unwilling they are to see how it can work for some, but not all.
The lessons of radical honesty and communication skills that come from practicing polyamory can improve monogamous relationships as well. I feel it’s just too challenging for some.
edit: chrome btw
It’s turned into a fantastic career and the resilience I gained from being bullied made me a stronger and kinder person growing up.
Wouldn’t wish it on anyone, but long term I would say it personally did not harm me.
Welcome to HN, where we make overcomplicated; obscure projects for the sheer passion and curiosity of it.
Is this your first day? XD
I realize there's a demo, but what if I'm on mobile and I'm just curious as to what the project looks like; or what if I just want to see what it looks like before I try it out?
Is it a nerd thing, where we're just kind of wrapped up so far in our own projects that we forget such a basic thing? Why does this happen so often? Genuinely asking.
Once you get that going, there’s a Bluetooth patch for PS4 controllers, IIRC. :)
Told them what they wanted, they went back and got it, they brought a POS so I could pay, I was easily out of there in 10min.
Never had any issues like this whatsoever in more than a decade of shopping at these stores?
I’d hardly call extremist right-wing Christians a ‘fringe group’, as much as I think most people wish they were...
‘Terrorist group’? Sure. Spot on. ‘Fringe’? Sadly not at all.
Look at the ongoing trans genocide as another example as to how big and how powerful these truly hate-filled people are.
EDIT: saw a disgusting uneducated dead comment below here saying it’s offensive to call the very real trans genocide a ‘genocide’ to others because I guess they’ve either done no research or are more likely just transphobic.
It’s sad to see even in usually amazing communities like this; that the denial of the trans genocide continues.
We can’t begin to fix a problem, before we acknowledge the problem exists, and this isn’t a deniable or debatable issue - it’s happening. Let’s not be ignorant hateful cretins by denying it. Please.
You okay there, bud?
I've also found SwiftUI to be a fantastic little language, I think especially for prototyping it would be fantastic.
One thing I preferred with these courses to so many similar other courses is that the video is not required. I much prefer to read, I don't like videos in tutorials unless completely necessary - screenshots and text work just fine, and for myself; these exercises just hit the nail on the head. :)
Of course, applications would respond shit slow this way, but in the case of a DB it'd be more than fine, no?
Who even develops Windows-exclusive apps these days, anyway? Even the average user these days seems to find it simply abhorrent.
It's so simple to create cross-platform applications these days, there's literally no excuse.
I can't imagine the thought process that went behind this beyond greed and profit, a little mind-numbing.
But couldn’t you also write an exception in the emulator itself? (I’m actually not sure - just genuinely curious!)
It's not open-source, that's for sure.
Once again; the media companies are absolutely doing everything in their power to drive even casual media consumers into piracy. I wouldn't be surprised if piracy was already more rampant than it's ever been - but it's only getting worse, due to ludicrous streaming fragmentation.
It'll never happen, but the only thing that can save piracy is an aggregate all-inclusive monthly subscription platform where all the films/shows from all services are available, just like Apple Music or Spotify. I pay $30-40/mo and I have access to all the stuff on Netflix, Prime, Max, Disney...
When you stream a movie from Netflix, they get the credit. Disney? The same.
Nobody is going to pay for all these services, and more and more are ditching them altogether. The response of the streaming services is to increase prices and reduce content. It's hilariously embarrassing. They are asking us to pirate.
Got me thinking now what a tiny printing solution like that would/could look like!
EDIT: unsurprisingly, there’s a bunch of iOS/iPadOS solutions. You could theoretically base it off a custom app on an iPad with one of these iThing printers stuffed away and use Square as a POS?
I fully remember I left for the bathroom and came back to my girlfriend and her bestie doing it, it was like you stood in the Center of the platform and the cameras rotated around or something?
I wish I could remember it more specifically, and it wasn’t perfect; but it struck me as strange that this was the first time I’d actually seen anyone even try!
Wish now I’d written down the company who was putting it on. It looked neat. :)
Honestly - Nintendo is the pettiest and shittiest to its incredibly passionate fan base.
Where SEGA hires people who have created great fan content, for instance; Nintendo sends out C&D’s.
Nintendo shut off their own revenue stream by closing the 3DS store.
That was their choice. They could still be making at least a bit of money from the 3DS store, but they chose not to.
So…punish the homebrew devs for their own stupid decision? I have never been able to understand Nintendo’s behaviour, especially having grown up in the ROM hacking and fan gaming scene where SEGA and Nintendo could not be more parallel opposites.
Then I can easily see why Dolphin would have no interest in joining such a project; what with the incredible focus on and borderline unbelievable achievements with performance they’ve made.
Totally different projects, totally different goals.
I guess you’re not involved with the fan gaming or fan content communities, whatsoever? :3
Nintendo is the textbook definition of petty with their copyright. It’s honestly brutal and disappointing. I much prefer SEGA’s strategy, even if they’re not perfect, either.
I know, it’s Apple; but at the same time, you’re easily going to sell 2-3 times more of them, and; like the iPod, it can easily introduce them to the Apple ecosystem and when it comes time to buy a new phone; they’ll maybe say ‘well, I’ve already got an Apple Watch and really like it…maybe I’ll get an iPhone this time my contract expires.’
But it’s Apple business logic. I’ve used their products pretty much exclusively for nearly 20 years (I’m an iOS/WatchOS dev and have used Logic to make music for 15 years) but I’ll never understand many of their decisions.
