loriverkutya··on Lenovo’s Glasses T1 let you bring a private big screen display with you
How much I would love a world where most of the people were walking on the street, having conversation with you, etc while watching something on the glasses and how much it would mess up the last crumbles of attention span we have.
loriverkutya··on Poorly configured cloud technology makes 5G networks worryingly hackable
Probably they built their containers, wrote the containerisation sysstem, wrote all the libraries they were using, wrote the operating system, the CPU microcode, designed and built all hardware parts they were using.

> Watching anime signals to a woman that you that you lack some important qualities.

I wonder how much this is true if you are Japanese.

Also, one of the most manly man I've ever known was watching anime and have been pretty open about it with people and as far as I'm concerned nobody was thinking about him to be too much of a dreamer.

I recommend stop visiting incel forums/reddits/PUA sites and figure out a way to build your confidence as a person.

loriverkutya··on Why long-term plans don't work and how to fix them
I recommend to tell that manager to learn about how people can be motivated, because yeah, deadlines are one kind of motivation, but there are a huge amount of people who responds much better to other kind of motivations.

Contamination mostly happening in the inoculation phase and this is just a fruiting chamber, does not help with that. You can also do the whole fruiting phase in a plastic bag with the help of a water spray.
loriverkutya··on EU Commission says it cannot find messages with Pfizer CEO
> They didn't have a majority in 2014 and it's unlikely they have it now.

They didn't but they won the last scottish general election with the clear program that they want to hold another indepence vote and that they will go for independence. Together with the Green party (also independence supporters) they have a pretty decent mayority. If I assume that everybody who voted for the will vote for indepence, then it is a done deal.

Also I can put 2 + 2 together. At the last independence vote people vote to stay in the UK to stay in the EU. At the Brexit vote 62% of the people voted for remain and not just that: every council in Scotland saw Remain majorities. The next independece vote is about to go back to the EU, so I assume people who vote to stay in the EU will vote to be in the EU again.

Also, the average Scotish is angry, because in the UK there are 39,860,400 voter in England and 4,079,600 voters in Scotland so it rarely matters what does the people in Scotland voting for. Also, they will be even more angry and desperate when they will get the winter energy bill (which will be 2-3x the last winter energy bill and a lots of people need to think about if the want to eat or stay warm). And they will be even more angry every time they are going to be told that you cannot vote again on their independence, because they will feel ignored again and they will not vote rationally. They will vote against the UK and against the current UK government because they had enough of not being able to have a say in what happening in Scotland (and it does no matter if this is true or not, the only thing matters if people belive it is true)

How do I know the people are angry and why they are angry? I live here and I talk to people.

loriverkutya··on EU Commission says it cannot find messages with Pfizer CEO
Inflation is currently highest in 40 years, the current forecast is recession and Scotland will break away from the UK next year and joins the EU as soon as they can, Northern Ireland and Wales maybe follows. Ahh and let’s not talk about the English government plans for the Brexit agreement.

loriverkutya··on Scotland starts renewed case for independence
Because it is factually incorrect. Scotland and England not sharing the same history as England invaded and occupied Scotland multiple times and I don’t think being invaded by a country and invading a country is a small difference. Also the languages spoken in Scotland are Gaelic, Scots and Scottish English.
loriverkutya··on Rejecting candidates unwilling to acknowledge female interviewers
I'm not sure how many interviews you have been, but all of my interviews started with introductions so it was always pretty clear which position they are holding in the company.

RDS is amazing, we upgraded our postgres DBs from 8.something to 11.something with one click/db and 5 minutes downtime a few weeks ago. Bigger/smaller instances and read replicas are also one click away in case you need to scale up or down. The builtin snapshot and backup capabilities are working out of the box, set it up and forget about it till you need to restore. Easily managable via terraform or your choice of infrastructure as code tools.

If the opinions are homophobic as they are in case of Hungary, I'm very happy that the EU is "bullying". I wish it would also be the case with the ongoing corruption in Hungary.
loriverkutya··on Interpersonal Traits of Aspies Placed in Context (2014)
> We are not good at accepting criticism, especially valid and accurate criticism. We feel humiliation very, oftentimes unreasonably, strongly.

I'm not sure why you are using plural, as autism manifests in various different forms and traits are not universal. I know a few people on the spectrum, who are pretty good with criticism and does not feel humiliation the way, you described it. So please don't do it as autism is spectrum and people on the spectrum can be very different. Using plural form leads to stereotyping and however it seems society would prefer to put "aspies" in a box, most of the people sticking out from the box left and right. (My favourite example is one of my excollegue, who is an extrovert aspie)

loriverkutya··on Ask HN: Tips on Sysadmin Job
The indication of the culture for me is pretty clear from the followings:

- no indication in the post that they going to hire a new person

- If your company IT infra is down, you are probably dead in the water, leaving it to be managed by a single person who does not have any IT infra management experience is a pretty bad business decision

- No indication in the post that the person offered any training or anything

- my experience with 1 person responsible for IT support/management/sysadmin jobs are that they are 24/7, which leads to burnout and mental health issues

loriverkutya··on Ask HN: Tips on Sysadmin Job
This is not a promotion, this is making you to do something you have no experience with and making you do the job what the fired person done besides yours. Also being responsible for the whole IT infrastructure alone is definitely what I would not do without any experience.

If that’s how the company handles this, I would start to look for a new job immediately.

loriverkutya··on Richard “Lowtax” Kyanka, creator of Somethingawful, has died
>Even if you despise the person, their death has caused real human suffering and pain among those around and associated to them.

Generally the victims of a serial abuser are usually experienced the suffering and the pain while the abuser was alive and their death is a relief. (firsthand experience)

I really don't understand of this speak ill if the dead thing, where is the limit, am I allowed to speak ill of Stalin or Hitler or the other mass murderer assholes. If you were an abuser and you die, we should not mention that you were making life miserable people around you or what?

If I have to pay the same amount of money and I can choose to deal with people or deal with a decent sized company (and leave them to deal with their people), I always choose the later.
