loloquwowndueo··on Captcha proves you're human. HATCHA proves you're not
A robot wouldn’t be annoyed passing the test every single time it wants to do something . A human would. That’s how you filter.

What’s Zachtronics. Never heard of it.
loloquwowndueo··on A game where you're an OS and have to manage processes, memory and I/O events
A lot of these puzzle/micromanagement games are very similar to stuff folks do for work. I stopped playing an entire category of puzzle games once I realized it was basically programming, which I do all day for a living anyway. Gamified programming is still programming.

Looks like “dark mode” implementation attempt which missed setting the background to black.

What a privileged point of view. For a lot of people police are indeed nothing but a potential threat.

loloquwowndueo··on Canada plans 'nuclear renaissance' with up to 10 reactors built by 2040
Nuclear plants would reduce Canada’s energetic reliance on other countries but - is there any, really? Last I checked, Quebec at least exports power to other provinces and the US.

Sure with more power generation Canada has more to sell and any country would be happy to have more energy, but it doesn’t sound like something the country _needs_ as much as, say, more housing. Or deep health care system improvements and staffing. Or … jobs.

loloquwowndueo··on Canada plans 'nuclear renaissance' with up to 10 reactors built by 2040
You’re missing the point which is to create jobs, it’s what the Canadian government is pushing really hard for now, with all the infrastructure projects it’s launching.

Something that will need people working on building for 15 years sounds about right for what government is doing now.

Dunno man, once you’ve seen a family of four plus cargo riding a moped you’ll realize people will use anything that gets them where they need to go.
loloquwowndueo··on Mexican government unveils a prototype for a new homegrown, ultra-affordable EV
Luckily it was not designed to be used in the US.

> I know absolutely nothing about Mexico in terms of geography or driving so I wonder how feasible an EV that you presumably constantly have to charge is going to fare.

Hey at least you admitted that upfront. Average driving speed in Mexico City is 15 km/h so one would have to spend 8h driving to deplete the battery in a day. Typical commutes are perhaps 1h one-way but again, distance wise probably only about 40 km both ways. So this 125km range easily covers it for most people.

I think energy cost is more of an issue for most. electricity is expensive in Mexico City especially compared to base salaries. And electrical infrastructure was never built to handle high power consumption. Most apartments have a single 30A breaker for the entire house. Most heating is done by gas and air conditioning is not widely used. For most people charging speed will likely be limited to about 10A at 120V.

loloquwowndueo··on Use AI for reviewing code especially when the diff is huge
If someone asks you for a code review and you turn your LLM loose to do it - you’re doing nothing. Just tell the requester you can’t be bothered and have them ask their LLM to do the review directly.

Relaying one LLMs output to another is very poor use of a human’s time.

loloquwowndueo··on Identity verification on Claude
Probably easier than with a person. A company has incorporation documents which exist in an already-verified public registry and have dates and other information.

I deeply appreciate the honesty here. I’ll pass based on the vibecodedness of it but perhaps it won’t be a dealbreaker for others.

Not the same thing. The equivalent is: buy an i5 but unless you pay a monthly fee, it only runs at an i3 speed.

loloquwowndueo··on AMD silently removes memory encryption from consumer Ryzen CPUs
A one-time unlock fee = sleazy but ok

A subscription fee = Drake no, that’s totally ridiculous and unholy.

I don’t know what the fee is but it’s have to be lower when aggregated over the car’s lifetime than what the one-time unlock would cost to make sense - and I’m fairly sure it’s not lower.

loloquwowndueo··on AMD silently removes memory encryption from consumer Ryzen CPUs
Two things. First - I already paid a hefty sum for a luxury car, why do I have to pay extra for a functionality a fucking $20k kia has standard.

Second, your argument kind of holds if it’s a one-time unlock fee, but falls apart under the subscription model. That’s a total revenue stream cash grab.
