That diagram was drawn like that just for exemplifying purposes.

Just to illustrate what network interfaces you would use for communicating between server processes.

It would be interesting if they mentioned the proportion/amount of money that goes to songwriters/artists per song.

If they want that lead balloon to be a golden parachute, they can make it, just rising the percentage of the royalties they pay to the artist.

Ugh, got decontextualized.

I meant the video reminded me about the recurring ranting (or praising) cycle that takes place when looking life in hindsight. :)

"... when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were noble ..."

It reminds me of the famous "Wear sunscreen" video :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=MX&v=0CVB8YSOLK4

If it's only hosting and bandwidth, how does this differ from wordpress, blogspot and other blog hosting solutions?

It isn't self evident. That's why research and studies are performed.

We can assume or think a lot of things are self evident, but if there isn't any hard facts lying around, we can never be sure.

I'd love to see Mexico added to that list :(

I wonder about the applications we would be able to hack up (and the excellent handset we would be able to lay our hands over).

lobo-tuerto··on On the nature of time [BBC]
FWIW after reading this I felt like the time I finally got C pointers right.

I think you can even feel your mind expanding a little bit... ;)

lobo-tuerto··on Ask HN: Does reading HN ever make you feel like shit?
He was being a little bit sarcastic about it. ;)

I think that's why the India's Defence Research Development Organisation is looking into it.

What is the number of days a "normal" human can survive without food or water? If I recall correctly it was 3 or 4. Although it may vary depending on the environment and activity conditions.

lobo-tuerto··on [dead]
That is the claim the subject is making.

Right now, he is being observed and has been without any water nor food for 6 days in a row. Would be interesting and maybe life changing to see what comes out of this.

lobo-tuerto··on Top 50,000 paying Adsense keywords (purchased from a shady looking website)
Then, don't look at it.
lobo-tuerto··on Ugh fields
It could be any activity you know you have to do, but instead you end up procrastinating, or doing totally unrelated.

For example, you know you have to finish that school project, but instead of getting into "work" mode, your mind starts to wander and you go and watch youtube videos all day instead.

But what would you gain from converting an MP3 to a FLAC?

Isn't that in the same vein as converting an existing 64kbps MP3 to a 256kbps one?

lobo-tuerto··on 101 Zen Stories
I noticed a typo in the article's link second story that wasn't present in yours.

So at least it seems like this one is a bit better maintained or being taken care of.

lobo-tuerto··on The story BCG offered me $16,000 not to tell
I also think this is the correct interpretation.

Maybe he needed to scream out loud to bring a bit of relief to his abused up moral.

lobo-tuerto··on New Urbanism
I have been longing for the ideas of Christopher Alexander to be put to good (world wide) use. Or at least wishing for them to be noticed outside the little circle of minds that "get it".
