There’s a similar crime in China called “Picking quarrels and provoking trouble”, it’s definition is so vague that the law enforcement has been abusing it and locking up whoever they want (especially those who go against CCP) for picking quarrels and provoking troubles… a very popular personality (Luo Xiang) who has been well known in China for spreading legal knowledge on Chinese social media was shadow banned due to him urging online the government to amend the law and get rid of this crime.
lol same, I have always wanted one but for the past couple of months, every time I checked they were out of stock, so I kinda just gave up until this post showed up.
I have some apps on iOS App Store and I got charged 99 bucks per year for listing, assuming there’s no breaking changes both in terms of API and listing policies on iOS in the next couple of years, they probably gonna last until my credit card expires. Hopefully at that time someone interested enough would fork my repos and continue maintaining them.
Uniqlo stores are doing this, when you check out, you just put all the stuff you grabbed into a bin and the system will tell you the total price right away.
If you buy a xiaomi phone from within China, the OS that comes with it has tons of ways to push ads to you. Every preinstalled app, even the settings app has ads in it, and most of them cannot be disabled without some struggling, even if you managed to disable them, often times they will just come back afterwards.
> You make a valid point, but in some cases, such as in areas with limited resources and infrastructure, eating feces may be the most effective way to clean sewage systems.
If you go ask a native Chinese speaker from China nowadays, I can most likely guarantee you that nine out of ten of them don’t know how to write the second character in the word “sneeze” (喷嚏)
I really couldn't think of what other careers for me to pursue other than writing code. Simply transitioning to other domains/specializations in software engineering is already challenging enough for me, could really use some advice from someone who had a successful transition. (Im a mobile dev now but looking to potentially transition to computer graphics)
I’m fully remote atm and checks slack when I’m off work all the time. If I were to commute 50 mins each way, I wouldn’t be looking at slack after work for sure, hell even 10min commute will make me dislike my job, just thinking of having to get up early to walk my dog..
Too many times have I found myself looking at some code I wrote couple of months back that don’t really make any sense, and then proceeding to refactor it only to find out that the original code was there for a reason… documentation is the key
As an app dev, I really want to make my apps more accessible, but just not sure where to start. I have experience working with a11y requirements in my pervious companies, but all of the requirements are from professional auditing service provider. Is there free a11y auditing services for FOSS?
I was with a medical equipment manufacturer for a couple of months. The codebase doesn’t have any consistent styles, and has tons of warnings and linter suggestions lol, no tests no and barely any documentation, it was a pain in da a* to work on that codebase… all the frameworks and packages used were pretty old and out of dated (this one though is understandable considering all the approvals required form FDA and stuff)
