lil_dispaches··on I’m not convinced by the new lab leak debunking
Evidence is not proof. There is lots of evidence.

A hypothesis is not a theory. Being loose with language and concepts is dangerous.

lil_dispaches··on I’m not convinced by the new lab leak debunking
The crux of the problem should be the grave injustice IF it was indeed lab generated and leaked. That is why I refer to it as a Lab Genesis, not a leak. The mere downplaying of the possibility is criminally insane.
lil_dispaches··on I’m not convinced by the new lab leak debunking
Downplaying the lab leak is dangerous, because it is the difference between an accident and mass murder. I think the best evidence for a lab leak is common sense.

lil_dispaches··on MasterCard suspends all services in Russia
Visa and Mastercard are not issuing "sanctions", nobody told them to cut off Russia, they are willfully making calculated business decisions.
lil_dispaches··on MasterCard suspends all services in Russia
I don't think this is act of war protest. These corporation know the inside score, they help write the narrative. I predict these companies are giving up Russia for good. This is a signal of a long term shift in world order and these corporate boards know it, because they engineer it with policies and propaganda.
lil_dispaches··on Corporate Insecthood
Legal "Corporate" person-hood is a total oxymoron. They are literally incorporate(d), which means "without a body".

That a corporation can legally act as a person is pure oligarchic garbage law.

lil_dispaches··on Charlie Munger: We are never going back to a five-day work week in the office
"U.S. Capitalism is modeled on slavery and feudalism. You can escape, but there is nowhere to go. And that's why our system works. What else? My stimpack needs more juice. Ahh, that felt good. What else?"
lil_dispaches··on Using www-authenticate for user authentication
How do you get the browser to send the Authentication header for every request thereafter? Typically you Auth once, and set cookies which the browser sends automatically with each HTTP request, even if the user is not on your domain.

You would have to rewrite HTML5 and handle all HTTP traffic manually to set the Authentication header for every request. OP's trick of HTTP + ancient browser spec for handling basic auth triggers automatic sending of the Auth header for all requests.

lil_dispaches··on Using www-authenticate for user authentication
Hm, why have browser vendors neglected the UX for this standard, no-cookie auth method? Why is there no corresponding markup in HTML5?

lil_dispaches··on I write about America’s health care system, and I got caught up in it
You can't indemnify health, only property. Personal costs related to health have no bounds; for instance if you lose your job because of health, your "out of pocket" is your whole salary. Which real insurance would cover.

Your example is leagues of laws and regulation on top of a scam, a pyramid model that affords top care for those who can afford modest premiums and really do get expensive care for $5 copay, at the cost of everybody else who has to fight their employer via federal politics for the right to go bankrupt.

Indeed, I would say that using insurance to pay your insulin bill is coming out on top of the scam, because some books are getting cooked (+/- paper costs) at the expense of mutual indemnity (taxes, social security). An insulin user is a health insurance voter, but that is a weak expediency for actually fixing the price of insulin and ending the tyranny of insurance companies over healthcare, and it turns whole populations into do-or-die partisans.

Thanks, Obama!

lil_dispaches··on I write about America’s health care system, and I got caught up in it
Health Insurance is a political scam of epic proportions. There is no indemnity involved. It is not real insurance. You don't use insurance to pay a monthly bill, you have it for black swan events. Nor should insulin be 1000/mo, on paper or otherwise.

The whole thing is performance politics to distract from the "insurance" companies running everything from medicine regulations to your kids playgrounds (so they don't hurt themselves and need care).

lil_dispaches··on A pipe operator for JavaScript: introduction and use cases
Simple syntax, like how '=>' is a two-character ASCII art 'fat arrow', and not anything to do with logical equivalence. That's how you syntax for beginners!
lil_dispaches··on Offline: Covid-19 as Culture War
It's not scientists vs politicians, it's corporate sponsored authoritarian control versus fundamental freedom and basic liberties.

The leadership class has been falling over themselves as a cover for decades of fake progress. That is why they are quick to take up any cause, blame the public, and demonize others: it's a defense.

The genesis of the virus is still at issue, even while the dog-and-pony act goes on. It's too serious to be lazy about the origin of the virus, and to accept the narrative. If it was created by process in a lab, tested on humans, then the Covid-19 is mass murder.

lil_dispaches··on New genetic study confirms that alcohol is a direct cause of cancer
Cancer seems to increase with age, so could we not conclude the opposite, that alcohol somehow aids survival?

Studies should not come with conclusions. Just the data, and unbiased analysis of the data if you must. No one statistical study can "confirm" anything. This is why science is so broke.

lil_dispaches··on YouTube removed a vid of me drinking water because “it's dangerous”. I'm done
I am starting to believe that 90% of the internet is performance spectacle psyops for the corporate government complex. The blue-checks larping with paid digital mercenaries to create the illusion of a realpolitic. That is all they need, as the illusion is the real in the world of the spectacle (DeBord).
lil_dispaches··on YouTube removed a vid of me drinking water because “it's dangerous”. I'm done
Who are all these YT defenders in the comments? "Well, it says ACID, and as every ignorant person knows, ACID means BAD, and knowing the difference between substances is stupid!" You sound like a bot trying to make common sense from adversarial policies. ThisCommonSenseIsFake.com.

lil_dispaches··on A New Origin Story for Dogs (2016)
"Tens of thousands of year ago, before the internet..."

Writing is such crap all over the place. Really? Exposition about when the internet wasn't?

Idk what the story says, but wild canines followed mankind as they mastered the domain of nature with hunting. What could more taming than free bones and gristle left behind a pack of wild and free humans with no natural predators, gobbling up prehistoric beasts?

lil_dispaches··on ADHD Accommodations Guide
As a millennial that lucked out of the psych-diagnostic phase of Western Upbringing (thanks Mom!), I don't know if I am autistic, ADHD, Bipolar, or any of it, but I can say this: ADHD is a power trait for understanding the modern world. You probably need to be ADHD in the future.

lil_dispaches··on Exiled from the Metaverse before it even started: Facebook bans are for life
Calling facebook "meta" is the ultimate in marketing people their own conceptual understanding of things back to them. Truly FB is trying to ZUCK the internet. This meme takeover is the worst part, speaking as a mostly non-user of FACEBOOK products.

I dreamed of a OS filter that lets you turn "meta" back to "facebook" where appropriate. We can't bring AI to the OS fast enough.

lil_dispaches··on Twitter’s founder admits that shutting down the API was “worst thing we did”
It was clearly in the dudes vibe, nor were they cool enough to hide their ego's many disappointments, like Jack does by being pseudo anonymous and pretending it's part of an enlightened calm. If any of these people were as enlightened as they pretend, they would take the money and gtfo, but truly they are ego derived demons.
