li-ch··on India's Flipkart Has an Amazon Problem
Amazon is years ahead in customer support and services. Yes. but in terms of products sold, I'd argue that they are mostly the same: made in China or southeast Asia.
li-ch··on India's Flipkart Has an Amazon Problem
China's e-commerce sites don't have such a worry. They have Great Firewall. Trade barrier works! /s
li-ch··on Microsoft sells patents to Xiaomi
No they will not.

1. Chinese Gov has Huawei's back, not Xiaomi.

2. Their decision to make their OS to show crazy amount of ads is really short sighted.

3. They are falling dangerously behind Huawei in both sales and quality of product.

Not only news. Articles' future is not articles.
li-ch··on Qihoo 360 and Go
jsno2, jsno3, jsno4 are accounts created within an hour only to comment positively for Qihoo. Are there any rules on HN against this kind of behavior or can someone ban these fake accounts?
li-ch··on Qihoo 360 and Go
It's not China-hating. It's Chinese people hating on Qihoo.
li-ch··on Show HN: Turn GNU command line tools into SaaS – Stupid Hackathon Project
Every 'transaction' should be automatically deducted from user's bitcoin wallet. Call it GNU Premium.
li-ch··on The 'SimCity' Empire Has Fallen and 'Skylines' Is Picking Up the Pieces
It's a hard problem to solve, and it might be a good crowd-sourcing opportunity. They need to expose some API for managing traffic, so that the community can experiment with new routing and scheduling strategies.

So maybe your should learn driving a car first. I agree that paying full attention while driving is definitely the hard thing to do, but it is also the right thing to do.
li-ch··on Redesigning The World Cup 2014 Brazil
If instead this design is currently being used by any channels, I think switching back would be an improvement.
li-ch··on Feedly gets hit by DDoS attack, refuses to give in to blackmail
If more users use Feedbin, then it will also be DDoSed and blackmailed. I think self hosting is the only solution here.
li-ch··on 2048 As A Service
And Threes!'s creators becomes more bitter and sour...
li-ch··on 9007199254740992
Strangely this feels like Diablo 2. Grind to find upgrade, which makes it harder to find the next upgrade.
li-ch··on Apple CarPlay

求别逗。
li-ch··on Why Are Hundreds of Harvard Students Studying Ancient Chinese Philosophy?
They are in Harvard. Next step would be landing a job on Wall St., not taking the hard courses that might prevent them from graduating.
li-ch··on China’s Tencent is giving away 10TB worth of free cloud storage
Actually, the internet speed in China will limit the usage of such services. It took me 3 hours to upload a 1G file (and I'm in Shenzhen, where Tencent headquarter is located). I doubt Tencent is just claiming an outrageous number and assuming no user will ever reach it.
li-ch··on Why Twitter is a Big Deal (2009)
Just out of curiosity, is there an open source twitter-like protocol?

li-ch··on Instagram's official response
I don't trust the legal opinions from the sales and marketing people. I'll read the ToS myself.

In fact, Xunlei, the download software that has most users in the world, does a much better job for a much lower price (10GB for 15 USD per year). But you have to be able to read Chinese...http://vip.xunlei.com/freedom/lixian.html

Sorry for being a Chinese grammar nazi, but "可口" (ke kou) means tasty, and "口渴" (kou ke) means thirsty.
